The mystery won’t be solved on Emergence. ABC has revealed they’ve cancelled the Tuesday night drama series so there won’t be a second season.
The Emergence TV series follows Jo Evans (Allison Tolman), a newly divorced police chief who ends up taking in a young child named Piper (Alexa Swinton) who is found at the site of a mysterious accident and she has no memory of what happened. Jo’s investigation into the child’s mystery draws her into a conspiracy that is larger than she could have imagined. The cast also includes Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown.
The first season of Emergence, which wrapped in January 2020, averaged a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.71 million viewers.
Despite having an enthusiastic fan base, Emergence ended up losing half of its audience over the course of the season and ended up being one of the network’s worst-performing shows.
What do you think? Did you enjoy watching the Emergence TV series? Would you have watched season two on ABC?
ABC you suck!!! Just when it was getting good!!! I’m going to stop watching new programs on you network!!!
It was a awsome show I’m posted that it would just end like that, no more abc shows for me
Was anxiously waiting for Season 2!!!!!! So so sad. Please bring this one back!
why do all the best shows get canceled? this is a perfect, family friendly, well done action series!!!! ugh! seriously, everything good gets canceled!!!!
not surprised, all the good shows are always canceled. I don’t understand why they don’t at least try to finish the the series with a season 2. At least for the people that like the series it might actually make it easier to want to start watching a new TV show, at least for me. I have actually stopped looking at new TV shows because i know the minute i start watching it and like it, that will just be canceled. For once producers finish a TV series, starting with this one.
I’ve never understood why networks hook you on their shows and just as they’re really getting interesting, they cancel them. I loved that show and was hoping Jo would reunite with her husband next season.
My wife,11-yo daughter, and I enjoyed the show very much. We would really like to see it continue!
I loved this show, I whish the network would reconsider and bring the show back. I’m so disappointed.
Each episode was better than the last. Why cancel a show with this kind of interest and relevance to where we are going as a society? It makes you think about the ramifications of actions we take as we gain greater technology. AI is definitely here to stay and we can make it good or bad. This show started to give us a look at both sides of the issue. ABC really missed the boat on the opportunity to lead the pack in showing the possible future of AI in our lives. Oh, and the the show was freaking awesome… Read more »
This show was exciting and fun to watch so of course it had to be cancelled – it could have been a real stress reliever this season
Why did you cancel a second season of Emergence, I liked this show it was great. Every time there is a good show and people get into it you cancel them.
We love this show………it really upsets us that it seems like most of the good shows are not getting the chance to continue. I wish the network would reconsider and give it another try. Please reconsider…I know alot of people that are upset by this.
This was the best show of the last season . Why is it every time there is a show that’s a little more interesting than the formula type stuff that currently fills the airwaves, it gets cancelled. It had pretty great reviews, was very suspenseful, and yet, it gets the axe after one season. This is why many of us are moving to alternative programming on cable, and other venues.
Super bummed they decided to cancel, not sure why it’s even offered on Hulu since it’s just going to be another intriguing but incomplete story.
Loved it. It was getting better week by week, and the characters were evolving. Real shame there’s no season 2. Very disappointed.
