The Tuesdays at 10pm timeslot has been a big ratings problem for ABC for quite awhile. Show after show has been cancelled. Will their new Forever series change that trend? Will it be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner is Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd). He can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out how or why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has cancelled Forever after one season. Details here.
Final season averages: 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love this show. sooooo hoping it doesn’t get cancelled. its a show our whole family can look at together and try to guess the ending!!
This show is so good. I love the characters and the relationships between them, especially the loving relationship between Henry and Abe. I really hope this show does not get cancelled. I think it is wrong to base a show on the number of people tuning in. There are great shows out there that became more popular after they were cancelled. Had these shows been left on, they would have picked up viewers after the first season. I really hope it doe/n’t get cancelled.
Renew Its a great show and just needs to find its spot. I think it apeals to a more sophisticated audience
I love this show soooo much. I’ve signed the petition and will be writing to ABC also.
My sister and I have gotten totally hooked on this show; we love it! And I’m 58. Do we older folks not count anymore? I’ve dropped any new shows that come on the CW because they cancelled a new show that I loved three years in a row: Ringer, Emily Owens MD, and Cult. If going back to network viewing is going to be more of the same, I’ll just go back to the CW. Everything about Forever is a sheer delight to watch every single week, and this is coming from someone who hasn’t watch anything on ABC in… Read more »
Your demographics seem to center on the younger generations….there are many of us older fans (65 and up) who LOVE this show!! It is truly one of the best of its type, mixing high intelligence with quirky but dedicated personalities and situations. The writing is fantastic as are the settings and props. I would love to visit Abe’s shop!! Henry’s accumulative gift (and education) for medical and environmental forensics keeps everyone on his/her mental toes. The supporting cast is endearing and sharp, but couldn’t Jo do something really outstanding, above and beyond Henry’s assistance? Also, I’d love to see him… Read more »
Betsy, sounds like you’re in my age range. They place too much emphasis and importance on their 18-49 demographic. It’s like we older folks don’t shop anymore. Totally foolish concept by the sponsors. We probably buy even MORE of their products than some of the younger age group. And, we certainly do appreciate a great show when we see one. God knows, the few good ones stand out from the bulk of bad ones that exist on all the networks. “FOREVER” is perfection in every sense of the word !
Well apparently ladies no one over the age of 49 buys anything…LOL I’m 47 so it’s nice to know when I hit 50 my buying power is no longer wanted or needed. What I like to know is who has more money to buy things? A 18 year old or a 55 year old?
Exactly my point, Becky ! I’m 72 and still do my own shopping and I pay VERY close attention to the commercials. I’m always looking for a new or improved product to try. The sponsors don’t seem to acknowledge that MOST of the folks, in that ‘younger’ demographic, Tivo or otherwise record the shows, and FILTER OUT ALL OF THEIR COMMERCIALS. HELLO !! How is that helping sell their products ??? The saddest part is that many of the commercials are more creative and BETTER than the shows they’re providing us.
Mary Ann you are sooo right about the commercials being more creative than TV shows themselves. I keep saying Hollywood is creatively bankrupt but maybe it not that as much as the people running it don’t know how to put good TV out there any more. I mean how many shows on today are going to stand the test of time? A good show is going to keep making money years from now. Shows like M.A.S.H. , Friends and Cheers keep giving. If we want to go back more shows like I love Lucky. They don’t move good shows around… Read more »
Please don’t cancel Forever. It’s such a good show. There are so many bad tv shows in right now and a great show comes on and gets cancelled. Give it a chance
Forever should definitely be renewed! It is one of the few show that I watch on TV.
We love Forever, I’ve got my whole family hooked on this show. I record it every Tuesday because of my little ones and watch it at the end of the week. Please renew this show there really isn’t much on worth watching now a days. Please, please renew.

Great ‘escape’ series. Renew it. How can the ridiculous ‘reality’ brain dead series keep coming back when in comparison this is a thought-provoking series that is truly entertaining. Get behind it for another season pickup.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Forever is what I look FOWARD to EVERY week!!! It’s the highlight of my everything!!!! It can’t possibly be cancelled. It’s an incredible TV show that deserves to get endless seasons.
I am deeply offended at the comment in this rating update saying that “FOREVER” is ‘tanking’ and, for that reason, it didn’t have any more episodes added and would most likely be cancelled. There are so many fans who have been writing to ABC and signing petitions and have even set up Fan Pages in support of this wonderful show. We post about it on Face Book and Twitter and have been spreading the word to family and friends by email and word of mouth. If we’re willing to fight for it, why won’t its network? ABC has a winner… Read more »
AMEN!!
Thanks, Betsy Kreidler, for your “AMEN” to my post and for believing in and supporting “FOREVER”. We just HAVE to convince ABC to keep this wonderful series for more seasons. Glad you’ll be watching at 10pm tonight, along with the rest of us faithful fans.
