Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
One of my favorite shows. They always seem to cancel the good shows and keep all the crap
I really really enjoyed the show and I am very sad to see it go, season two had so much potential?
I can’t believe this wonderful show is canceled great acting and writing I hope another channel picks it up big mistake abc
Well, that drops the number of ABC shows that I watch on a weekly basis, other than the news, to one- Castle. Right now CBS is my go to company!
I am really disappointed about that! I think it’s different and intriguing tv series and ABC shouldn’t cancel it. I hope they renew it!
Truly loved this show. Interesting story and great characters. I can’t believe this show didn’t have more viewers. Those that did watch it absolutely loved it. With all the crap on TV this one gets the axe; can’t believe it.
Before cancelling Forever, I feel ABC should have considered moving the show to a different day/time than the notoriously deadly Tuesday @ 10:00 pm timeslot. My daughter and I love the show but usually had to record it and watch it earlier the next day. At least give the loyal viewers to the show a proper ending with answers to all the unanswered questions it left us.
Hopefully the producers did not give any type of exclusive rights to ABC. Maybe they can pitch it to another network like USA,. They carried hits like Monk and Psych for years with great success. It’s pretty sad that the 3 big networks cater to big money over good writing. I really hope the producers can get it to another network. C’mon guys! There’s always a solution! If you keep us all informed, we’ll follow and support!!
good show abc thinks only nasty and volger shows are what we want
We love this show! We can’t believe it is cancelled! They should’ve given it another season
This is the only show I would go out of my way to watch!
Can’t believe it is cancelled!!
Please consider bringing it back.
ABC Can’t all be ridiculous reality shows, dysfunction or sex
I cant believe you are cancelling one of the few quality shows on t.v. today. We don’t need another reality show, or a dysfunctional family so called comedy. Love the acting
and storyline on Forever. Please reconsider.
I love this show, its fuuny, it has mystery, and great actors. Its fresh and fun to watch. Please bring this show back on the air. Sometimes it can’t just be about ratings, sometimes it needs to be about good TV.
thanks,
murielle
I loved the show!!!! I gave up Person of Interest to start watching Forever!! I feel that if a show isn’t nasty, filthy and filled with sex ABC won’t keep it on the air. Poor them… And poor us, the loyal watchers. Castle is such a hit and this one had the same type of cast interactions!! Should have gotten rid of Scandal or The Bachorlette….anything but FOREVER….forever!!!
ABC shouldn’t have cancelled the show. Some shows just take a while for people to warm up to. I think it’s a wonderful, intriguing show and it deserves to be renewed or get picked up by another network.
