Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
Hi
I just signed the petition, “ABC: Renew Forever.”
I think this is important. Will you sign it too?

Thanks,
YOU FINALLY HAVE A GREAT SHOW AND NOW YOU ARE CANCELLING IT? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING
I really hate it when shows get canceled that I really like. This was such an unusual spin that I thought it would make it. Do they take into consideration people dvr shows anymore instead of watching live. That has to account for lower ratings, correct. Makes me want to quit watching tv, the powers that be don’t give shows a chance anymore. So sad.
This is such a terrific show. There was a lot of advertising for it and I, for one, could not wait to see it. When it aired, the advertising disappeared altogether. I DVR’d it as I’m 44 and have 3 children 11-15, and I am constantly on the go and a 10pm slot is not realistic. Please, please bring the show back!! It is witty, romantic, well written and the acting is superb, not silly like Bones.
I love this show! One of the shows I looked forward to every week. Smart and romantic. So what if it didn’t cater to to 20 somethings. There is plenty of other trash to hold their attention. Another bonehead decision like CBS cancelling Moonlight at the height of vampire mania.
Why do I think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience? Easy, because most of people is stupid and like generic stupid recycled crap.
So disappointed by the cancellation of the show Forever. It was one of the few family friendly shows offered by any of the major networks, and we regularly watched the series. Could some of the problem with viewership be that it was preempted so frequently and moved here there and everywhere? Please give the show another season. Surely we deserve the opportunity to at least see an appropriate ending?
Very disappointed this show has been cancelled. Great concept and well written. I hope this decision can be reversed
Just when it was getting better and better.
I agree, for a family-friendly show, 10pm is way too late. Do those in ratings know the effect of moving different shows to different time slots? An adult-based show would bomb at 7.30pm because children are not in bed or parents not home from work yet. 18-49 year olds are still having an after work drink somewhere.
This was a really good show, lovely actors, good script, an interesting basis for an entertaining show. At least as good as Castle or Bones. Please give it another go in a realistic time slot.
pleeese renew!!!!!!!! The show is so unique.
We loved it. What a shame they cancelled it.
Don’t cancel Forever, it is a refreshing, romantic sophisticated TV series. Rethink the decision to cancel!
i dont know if there gonna put it back on the abc….
I am so dissapointed that Forerver will not be renewed. This was one show that, as a family, we would wait and watch together on the weekend. We are talking a family of 6 (ages, 49, 49, 18, 17, 15 and 10 years old). Everyone of us looked foward to watching it! It was my 18 year old that found out that it would not be renewed, and was very upset. If anyone knows what we can do to save it, please let’s do it!
Gee – No sex, no violence, no gore – no wonder ABC has cancelled Forever. It only had interesting stories, well acted by the very easy on the eyes Ioan Gruffud and my old favorite Judd Hirsch. If the time slot is a problem MOVE IT! Please rethink this decision.
Those were my thoughts too.. hardly any swearing either!
