Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
I am SO sorry to read that FOREVER has been cancelled. I truly enjoyed the storyline and felt it had miles to go. As others have said – who needs another reality show? As far as I’m concerned those can be cancelled anytime. Sure hope someone in the TV business decides to give FOREVER another chance.
From Europe: we watch Forever – we are peopele of 35-40 years old (in France, Spain, Romania, Rusia – most of my friends) and love the show.
What’s with this cancellation? Ratings are not showing the reality!!!
ABC – go back with the show!!!
i am extremely disappointed that Forever was cancelled. Like others, I too looked forward week after week for the next episode. Henry Morgan was such an intelligent person and added so much to the show. I hope ABC reconsiders and brings the show back for another season. There were too many unanswered questions!
It’s not right. I do fit in the 18-49 range at 25. I love Forever and I don’t watch much TV for myself as a mother of 2 small children I don’t watch much TV for me. I hate to see good shows that have such great potential and plot to be cut form TV, yet they let things that gladly show nothing of a plot stay on… Please ABC bring it back.
ABC should definitely renew, or another network needs to pick it up. Really enjoyed this show.
I loved the show and I am sorry that it has been cancelled. We have so many trashy REALTY TV SHOW, that when a well acted and different genre is shown on TV the general public can’t seem to appreciate it.
More is the pity. Please bring it back on. Thanks,
Milinda
We (my family – husband and 2 children 12 and 14) have just finished watching the series in Australia and really enjoyed the plot and the characters. We are disappointed that a second series has not been planned. We would love for someone to attempt to produce another series, it was great to watch as a family, although the kids could not watch them all. There are not many show we watch together so again disappointed.
Linda.
Im From Indonesia, im very like TV Series Forever, and so many friend very like Forever, i hope not cancelled Season 2, very interesting with this movie, plese dont cancelled
I love this show!! I don’t want it to go anywhere.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed that “Forever” was canceled! Like Gina, I don’t fit into the 18-49 age category; I am 60. I watch very little TV, but know a good series when I see it. The character development and interactions were great, the story lines were very interesting. I think it was every bit as compelling as “Bones” or “Castle” (two of my favorites). If I were not hooked on a couple o
f ABC shows, I would quit ABC altogether.
it is an excellent series that should not have been canceled, this show is like an art piece was rudely brought to a halt, this piece of art that had the potential to be the best show on television. It had a great story that went in to deep, with characters that were great, the acting is some of the most incomparable acting, it had its own spark.
I realize that I don’t fit into the 18-49 age category. I am a 79 year old granny and have seen a lot of TV in my day. It is one of the favorite thing people my age do, so why don’t we count. we spend money too. I do have to admit I have enjoyed a few shows and few have been canceled. I enjoyed Monk, and Physic which fortunately have been great shows. They ran a long time so I thought I must be a good judge of good shows. Then I discovered that Forever had been canceled… Read more »
Well said. I don’t fall into the ” demographic” either. I’m 60 and love Forever. It is a great show but was mishandled by ABC. Pre-empted a lot, etc. please someone renew Forever
Forever is a very good series; well acted, interesting story lines. Please do not cancel this series!
I am so disappointed that this show was cancelled. I looked forward to watching it week after week. The chemistry between all the actors was finominal. I truly hope that ABC reconsiders their decision to cancel this show.
They are canceling an excellent series, live in the world of the audience and it does not matter to them that the fans of the series be disappointed by the cancel.
I personally lose the will to see series when they are in firts season, we never know if have continued or not, because then I get really sad when I love it and end up with the series.
