Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
Very disappointed there will not be a second series – it was different – an easy watch and very well acted
This was one of the best shows on TV – do you count the people recording it. I tape everything after 9 in case I fall asleep. PLEASE don’t cancel this show. There is very little I watch on ABC – you cancel all the good ones and keep the boring ill written and brainless ones. Take a tip and keep this one.
I loved the main actor, the history, everything. It was a great show and it’s disappointing it is NOT FOREVER
Clearly ABC does not know when they have a good show, and needs time to build its fan base to be a larger draw.
I am so disappointed the series was cancelled. I enjoyed the story line, I thought the chemistry between the characters was terrific. I enjoyed the historical forensic aspect of it. Maybe you would consider a two hour movie to finish the story line
“Forever” is an awesome TV show is a suitable program for young teenager like me. I can’t seam to understand why would ABC would make such an reckless decision for canceling the show . The reason I think that the show doesn’t receive much view is because that the show did not promote or advertise the show properly. There for, coursing viewer like my age to build a subconscious mechanism that make us think that the show is lame and boring . Honestly , The way they advertise the show was very boring , I was not even interested of… Read more »
Best show ever, something different
Please don´t cancell it, it´s my favorite tv series.
So sad to hear about the cancellation of series 2 of Forever. I watched the entire first series, and rate it at least as highly as Dexter and Breaking Bad, in some ways the show was more family friendly in that the main character was a good guy rather than an anti hero as in the other 2 shows. I thought that the show was a worthy alternative to series such as Sherlock and The Mentalist, and in fact you could say it was an amalgam of those shows. However it really appealed to me,and I especially enjoyed some of the quirkier… Read more »
Not happy that this show cancelled. One show that is not reality bull and the whole family can watch…. We are not a young family so shove the demographic and make season two!
The show was not given a chance… The skipping of weeks didn’t help either… ABC’S LINE UP IS FOR CHILDREN!
I am really disappointed that Forever has been cancelled, it was the best show on TV. I hope the producers reconsider as there is still so much that can be done with this cast, storyline and series.
I empathize with Gina, a gal who said she was in her 70s and that FOREVER was her all-time favorite show! That says a lot. I really hope decision makers at ABC read these heartfelt comments from so many viewers — people who have TV watching experience, buying power, and the gumption to comment on blogs because they feel so strongly about this bad programming decision. I’ve been reading these comments on and off for a week, even first commented back when the bad news was announced. The show has touched the hearts of thousands around the world. And so… Read more »
really loved this show and looked forward to each new episode, likeable cast and loveable characters. And a brilliant storyline. Saddened that it’s been cancelled but trashy, reality, dumbing down **** shows survive.
Very disappointed to see the show was cancelled.
