Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
Why aren’t they going to make A second season of forever.
They left eposode 22 with a question on everyone’s mind,
“Will Henry tell Jo the truth or will he lie to her again about his past”
I love the show Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can we get the word out to encourage another network or cable channel or even Netflex or Amazon to pick up this great show. Great acting and chemistry between actors as well as interesting stories.
Forever has been my favorite new show. Please give it a second year to garner more support! It is smart, unique, and great stories! Terry M. in AZ
Wow so disappointed to have watch a great show that I had stored in my DVD to find out it has been cancelled.. My husband and I watched beginning to end over 4 days and loved it.There are so many shows that go through season after season that are terrible, this show deserves to go on we loved it..
This makes me so sad, just finished watching the last episode, the cliffhanger is killing me 🙁
Poor decision as many Australians watched this program and made no sense as it had quality actors with great story lines. Its left a gap in evening programming within Australia, albeit we should never be surprised about the axing of good television!
Never say never.
My wife and I really enjoyed the excellent series Forever & we are extremely disappointed that it was cancelled.
It’s getting to a point that we are afraid to watch new shows here in the UK that have been probably been already cancelled in the U.S.
Really hope a new network will pick it up for a second season.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL FOREVER.
Love this show. Love the concept of the show. Love the Flashbacks
that are an integral part of this amazing show. Love the actors.
What can be done to keep it airing?????
PLEASE.
I loved this show and its premise. Agree with some of the comments posted here. So many unresolved issues and questions. At least we know what happened to Abigail. But how did Jo respond to Henry’s life story? If she believed it or made their relationship better/worse? And does Adam ever come out of the locked in Syndrome Henry inflicted upon him. As Henry said – he’s a doctor, not a killer, so how does the character feel about maiming another human being – albeit a 2000 year old one – and is Adam really Julius Caesar ? Given that… Read more »
I cannot believe the show has been cancelled, and on such a cliffhanger with so much unresolved.
I live in the UK and I am absolutely sick of the American way of cancelling shows after one season. Firefly, Criminal Minds – Suspect Behaviour, Wonder Woman. I am now at a point where I refuse to watch anything if I know it has been cancelled. Networks be warned, I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels like this.
A terrible decision on your part.
I really loved this show – it was my favorite so far from the few at all I like on ABC or any other channel. I don’t watch TV much, but for Forever I specially came home on Tuesdays to watch. I am truly disappointed that it is cancelled, after only one season!
Started off to confusing with too many storylines but eventually chicken s need course and was good
I think the problem w a s Tuesday . Night too much established competition on other networks. Try a diff err rent time slot
Hope cable Chan elsewherepick it . Up
I really loved this show. The acting was superb and the story line was well written. With so much garbage on today’s television, it was refreshing to watch a show with class, humor and talent.
Very saddened and disappointed to hear that Forever has been cancelled. I feel there are not very many great shows out there to watch, but this was not one of them. It is a wonderful show, and one of the few I enjoy watching. Perhaps another network will pick it up. I sure hope so.
Very big pity as I really enjoyed the series very much .
Such a big pity but hopefully they’ll change their minds and do seasson 2
