Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
It was a great show. Probably did not catch on because the network never had it on a regular weekly basis.
I honestly loved this show it was one she me and my son never missed we watched every single episode. And we are very disappointed that the show will not be continued.
I’m so upset I love this show. There is so much crap on TV and this was a good solid show.
Yes, please let’s hope another network picks it up.
We are now left with all the silly ridiculous reality shows.
Someone needs to let these intelligent productions continue to be produced instead
Of those briainless shows. I am really upset, all the good ones are being cancelled.
I can NOT belive it has been cancelled and that some other channel won’t take it on. The series has just come out in Spain and I have been devestated when i heard there won’t be a second season. I find it is a perfect programe to show people how interesting history is and how the nolege of history can help you ansure present and future questions. I really hope that they will change they’re minds and show a second series or even more.
I’m crushed. I loved this show and I thought Ioan Gruffudd was wonderful as Henry Morgan.
It Pains Me To say Forveer season will not be seen this fall 2015,So Instead We MAy Bring You The Muppets and The Middle And The Goldbergs ON ABC and Excessive Violence On television.
I loved forever!!! It is such a shame that the discontinued the show. I’m very disappointed in abc for this!!!
Another really well done show cancelled, yet silly sitcoms and brainless reality shows are kept on. So disappointing!
I am really not a fan of the Tv series show, it is most difficult for me follow a Serie, because no one have achieved to get my interest for a long time, except someone like Lost, the Big Bang Theory and now FOREVER . This was different from the beggining. I love it.
It is a big mistake to have decided to cancel this show.
We loved the show. Always interesting and fun to watch.
I really liked Forever. I was looking forward to the new season. My 23 yr old son watched 1 episode about mid season and did a marathon session to catch up. It was detective, hospital and romantic drama all rolled into one. It also reminded me a little bit of Masterpiece theatre. I liked the relationship dynamics, father/son, non detective, death and romance, figurative and literal. The Henry Morgan character had so much depth. We are very disappointed that the show won’t return. Maybe one of the cable networks will pick it up.
My mother and I loved this show. We had to dvr it because of our work schedules. But we always sat down each week excited to see the next episode. I’m very disappointed that they cancelled the show just as he was about to tell Jo his secret. We were so looking forward to the next season and to see where the show would go. It seems here lately that all the really good shows are being canceled then leaving us with nothing but the reality shows. Which by the way are the ones that need to be canceled. Here’s… Read more »
I love this show; it became one of the very few shows that I didn’t miss. I heard ABC didn’t own the show; Warner Brothers did . I do know that it was definitely not promoted. It was a great show with a lot of heart. No smut, probably why it didn’t last.
I was upset when it was cancelled because it had become my favorite show.
It’s one show we are able to watch with our young teenage son. Interesting historically, compelling plots, characters with character. CRAZY to cancel this show. WE HOPE ANOTHER NETWORK PICKS IT UP!!!
