TV show description:
This cop drama follows the LAPD’s multi-agency Gang Task Force as they take on the city’s most dangerous gangs.
Detective Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez) is a rising star in the force but he has a secret. He lost his father at an early age and was taken in and raised by the Acosta family. Before he became a cop, Ryan pledged his allegiance to a different band of brothers –- the powerful Latino gang called Los Angelicos.
When Ryan’s best friend and police partner is senselessly killed by a notorious gang member, Ryan teams up with Task Force member and DEA Agent Cassius Green (RZA). He’s been at the forefront of the city’s war on organized crime for a long time.
Despite his devotion to his job, Ryan is still beholden to the crime family’s leader, Javier Acosta (Cliff Curtis). He’s the father figure that Ryan has tried to make proud his entire life — and the man who masterminded his entry into the police force.
Ryan’s secret has been held for a decade by Ryan, Javier, and Javier’s sons; cold-blooded gang lieutenant Carlos (Rey Gallegos) and straight-laced investment banker Daniel (Jay Hernandez), Ryan’s childhood best friend.
But Ryan is starting to realize that he is even more dedicated to being a cop than he is to Los Angelicos. He is respected by his team, including FBI Agent Tae Kim (Sung Kang), ICE Agent Vanessa “Vee” Hicks (Inbar Lavi) and the task force leader, Sam Chapel (Terry O’Quinn).
Chapel is Ryan’s other surrogate father figure. His estranged daughter, Jessica (Shantel VanSanten), is the city’s Assistant District Attorney.
Episode #13 — Malandros
Daniel uses his wedding to finalize a deal between Javier and Lavar Quintel. Chapel leads his team into Mexico to find murder suspect Matias. Chapen and Ryan learn that Javier ordered the hit on Jessica. Ryan has Javier transferred to the metas side of jail where he finds a “welcome party.”
First aired: August 14, 2014.
