Gilmore Girls will return to the small screen in November with its arrival coming to Netflix. However, one member of the Gilmore family will be missing. Fans of the series will not see Edward Herrmann as Grandpa Gilmore on the series. He passed away after the original series ended.
His character’s death will have a huge impact on the new series, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, though. Lauren Graham spoke about Herrmann’s passing and the new series with People Magazine. She said the following:
“He would have loved this [new series.] His death was just a loss for us personally. It’s given the show a new complexity and depth. It’s a nice tribute to him.”
The series will show how Emily Gilmore deals with the loss of her husband. This was teased by Kelly Bishop, the actress behind the oldest Gilmore female, in an interview earlier this year.
