What’s This TV Show About?
A psychological thriller streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Gypsy centers on Manhattan psychologist Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts). Despite her seemingly perfect life with her husband Michael (Billy Crudup), Jean starts to form inappropriate, intimate relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As the boundaries between her professional life and personal fantasies crumble, her desires push her to sink to new lows. Jean is in danger of completely losing touch with reality. The rest of the cast includes Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton, Karl Glusman, Melanie Liburd, Poorna Jagannathan, Brenda Vaccaro, and Brooke Bloom.
On August 11, 2017, Gypsy was cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Because Nielsen doesn’t track streaming platform ratings, it is hard to gauge the performance of TV shows like Gypsy, unless Netflix decides to publicize its success. Early critical reviews from Deadline and USA Today have been mixed. While both outlets commend Watts’ performance, they both also take issue with the writing on Gypsy. Although Netflix has been known for giving its original series time to build an audience, lately, they’ve been a little quicker to cancel TV series like Girlboss and The Get Down after just one season. That knowledge and hose reviews have really whet my appetite. I’ll keep a hungry eye on this show and update this page with any new developments. I love this show don’t cancel it please give it some time to get known I passed it so many times on Netflix it didn’t stand out to me but I finished a movie and it was the next thing recommended that I should watch when I clicked on it and saw the first ep it became one of my favorite shows I’ve seen the entire season twice once you get into the story you don’t want it to end I feel like the only people who will fall in love with this show are the people who start out… Read more »

PLEASE make a season 2 and MORE!! The best show I’ve seen in ages and women need quality and intriguing storylines like this. Naomi is outstanding! I love this show and do not want it to end. Savoring each episode!
It’s about the best thing on right now that is not a stupid cop, doctor, lawyer, or blowing things up show so please keep it. It’s far better than blood line which I cannot believe has not been canceled yet as it fits all of the things I don’t want to watch – cops, drugs, murder, blowing things up…so sick of it. W.out another mad man soon, we need shows like this to maintain a reason – some faith – that netflix can make it by brining interesting, non violent content that women like to watch.

LOVE THIS SHOW. Bing watched it and am watching it again now and seeing things I missed the first time around. Very few shows I have ever watched stay with me when I finish. This show has stayed with me since it came out. PLEASE DO SEASON 2
Too funny, did the same. It was the reason why I erupted my subscription as it brought back faith that they could keep interesting content coming. There was a lull there for a while – especially b’cause House of Cards S5 was not all that good – not good enough for a second watch.
