What’s This TV Show About?
A psychological thriller streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Gypsy centers on Manhattan psychologist Jean Holloway (Naomi Watts). Despite her seemingly perfect life with her husband Michael (Billy Crudup), Jean starts to form inappropriate, intimate relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As the boundaries between her professional life and personal fantasies crumble, her desires push her to sink to new lows. Jean is in danger of completely losing touch with reality. The rest of the cast includes Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton, Karl Glusman, Melanie Liburd, Poorna Jagannathan, Brenda Vaccaro, and Brooke Bloom.
On August 11, 2017, Gypsy was cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Because Nielsen doesn’t track streaming platform ratings, it is hard to gauge the performance of TV shows like Gypsy, unless Netflix decides to publicize its success. Early critical reviews from Deadline and USA Today have been mixed. While both outlets commend Watts’ performance, they both also take issue with the writing on Gypsy. Although Netflix has been known for giving its original series time to build an audience, lately, they’ve been a little quicker to cancel TV series like Girlboss and The Get Down after just one season. That knowledge and hose reviews have really whet my appetite. I’ll keep a hungry eye on this show and update this page with any new developments. I personally feel like a season 2 showed be renewed because I am on edge finding out how everything is going to play out and what’s going g to happen in the next steps of everyone’s lives.

Gypsy was awesome all day there should be a few seasons theres so many ways they can take the next season too… endless ideas and im not even a screenwriter! Lol but it is a great show && hopefully they give us a little more of gypsy! 🙂 Netflix’s LGBT collection hasn’t much to choose from this was bout th best thing LGBT wise in a long time! why do a new show then cancel. I wonder sometimes if its simply to see how many people will get riled & request to bring it back so networks can see just how much people do or don’t like it. This main character did bad things in a major way I say if you plan to end it at least do a season two to wrap up the storyline, give closure.
I just binged watched the series and was stunned to learn there is no season 2. I thought the show was fantastic and cant believe no season 2??? They have to at least have a wrap up episode. That was a total cliff hanger they left us with.
This is the best show I have seen in a VERY long time. I am completely obsessed with it and was hooked to it every episode. Naomi Watts did an incredible job and the rest of the cast is superb. Netflix didn’t do any promotion on this show and didn’t market Naomi Watts’ name. They should have done so much more to get the word around. I really hope Netflix reconsiders the cancellation or that another network picks it up. We need a Season 2!!! Please help spread the word on this show and help to get it renewed. #renewgypsy

I believe that it had an audience, and it would have grown eventually. The story line is good, and actors played their parts well, and it should be given at least a 2nd season. I for one binged and entire day on it and I enjoyed it very much.
I got fed up with the story line that didn’t know where it was going. Turns out that Jean is out of her mind and as a psychiatrist apparently tries to screw up the lives of her clients. Weird.
It was an excellent tv series and it is not fair to cancel shows just like that
Such a great show. Naomi Watts and others, good job. Very relaxing and sexy, too. Hopefully soon Season 2

A thought provoking, compelling story which draws you into its web. Great acting, music and better than the reality crap on Bravo. Hoping those in charge read all the positive feedback and bring back season 2.
