Last week, NBC unveiled their newest legal drama series, Harry’s Law. Interestingly, this isn’t a new Law & Order spin-off but rather the brainchild of David E. Kelley who created shows like ABC’s Boston Legal. He also worked on NBC’s popular LA Law many years ago. Will this legal series last as long as those or be quickly cancelled instead?
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet “Harry” Korn (Kathy Bates), a curmudgeonly ex-patent lawyer. She’s abruptly fired from her blue chip law firm, forcing her to search for a fresh start. Harry finds it when she meets Malcolm Davies (Aml Ameen), a college student who desperately needs her help and ends up working for her. A young legal hotshot named Adam Branch (Nate Corddry) accidentally hits her and gives up his corporate job to join the team. With the help of Harry’s shoe-obsessed assistant, Jenna (Brittany Snow), they open for business as Harriet’s Law and Fine Shoes.
The TV series debuted last Monday and it attracted an okay 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It ranked in second place for the timeslot though probably would have been third if Castle had not been a repeat. Though that’s not a great debut, it’s a 47% improvement over Chase’s last original episode in the same timeslot. That’s very positive for NBC.

Last night’s episode of Harry’s Law drew a 2.1 in the demo and 10.43 million viewers. That’s a loss of about 5% in the demo from the premiere but still positive since most shows lose between 10 and 15% of their viewership in week two. Most people who watched last week obviously liked it and returned and perhaps even told a friend or two.
After just two airings, Harry’s Law ranks in sixth place on the list of NBC’s most-watched scripted programs, just below 30 Rock. That’s very positive, especially considering NBC’s string of bad luck in the Mondays at 10pm timeslot. If the series can sustain or even build on these early numbers, it looks certain that NBC will renew it for season two.
But, what do you think? Do you like Harry’s Law? Do you think NBC should keep it going or just cancel it? What do you like or dislike about the new series?

This is the most enjoyable surreal television drama in 20 years. David Kelly is a genius and shows the TRUE AMRICAN LAWYER as our foundin forefathrs ment the judicial system to be. David Kelly has finally reached the pinnacle of standard that should be the basis for all the legal system. thank you
It’s a keeper.
The Jenna character is getting on my nerves! If I want to see immature, adolescent behavior, I’ll go visit some 13 year olds. Please change her behavior… it could be a deal breaker for me.
Keep this show! It is absolutely haunting. I saw the last episode two nights ago, and scenes still replay again and again in my head. I am captivated by the characters and the poignancy of the stories. The writing and the cast are excellent. Please support it for a long, long time to come.
GREAT SHOW-KEEP IT!!!!!!
I have only seen the last three episodes of Harry’s Law (because it’s on too late). I went to NBC’s website and although they have thumbnails of all of the episodes, you can’t watch any of them! I did get to see one on their website, and I saw In The Ghetto as a rerun on NBC Saturday at 8 pm (Yay! More my time slot!). Then, I stayed up and watched last night. The initial attraction for me is Kathy Bates. She is wonderful in whatever she does. I think most of the actors mesh well. But, in last… Read more »
I enjoy this show. Maybe it doesn’t have enough sex and nasty behavior for younger people. I really like the way Harry works with the young people in the neighborhood. She doesn’t take let them disrespect her. There is nothing wrong with a positive, funny show that deals with real problems.
Keep it on. We need a fun show instead of just blood and gore or belittling trash.
Stay away from in-house Romances….. That a-lone will lose viewers!!! You need 2 focus on both Lawyers, N the young future Doctor helping the unfortunate in the streets . Their R so many story 4 these characters in the real world, that it will take decades 2 air all of them..
please please please!!! keep it.it makes my monday night exciting, put it back on on demand.
I LOVE Harry’s Law. But like the one episode in Boston Legal dealt with, they don’t think the general public likes watching shows with older people. Well, there are a lot of older people out there that don’t have many shows to pick from that we really enjoy. This has brought a much needed breath of fresh air.
love, love, love this show. love, love, love chris mcdonald please do not cancel this show
Very enjoyable show! Please keep it.
I think this T.V. series is great. The acting is great, the stores are so interesting. My only negative thing is that it is on too late during the week for working people. Its one of the best series on T.V. right now. Please do not cancell.
This show improves with age, especially as we get to know the characters. On demand should put it back on their lineup
Harry’s Law is my favorite broadcast show. It’s clever, insiteful, edgey and thought provoking. That said, please don’t reduce quality by introducing an interracial romance! Stick to business, the show will rise. Add too many variables, the show will fail. It’s a law show, not a phoney romance soap-opera…sheesh! FOCUS!
