Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

I loved Christina and she made the show. She always brightened my day. The show isn’t the same. I tried watching but won’the now.
As if Debbie doesn’t already have a steady job. Replacing Christina gives me the feeling that older women are not desired on tv. Shame on you Hallmark!
I will miss Christine greatly. Still dont know why she was fired and I think it’s odd that no one is saying. I’ve only recently started watching and then all of a sudden she was gone. Not sure if I will watch anymore.
No I will not continue to watch home and family and the reason why is simpul, home and family is just that and you don’t just throw away such a important part of a family that really made that show and got it where it was . it was a gross and rude way the host was treated by Hallmark to be disrespected for a younger women witch no matter what hallmarks would say at this point it spoke volumes to the public . I love Christina. She is close to my age and I just loved watching her. I didn’t watch a lot but probably won’t watch at all now. I loved her shoes. Any way don’t know why she was replaced don’t care but think it was a poor move.
I have given Debbie another chance as hostess for Home & Family but I still stand by my other comments, I don’t plan to watch the show unless a guest is on I want to see. I was taping show when I couldn’t watch it but not anymore, waste of time to go back and watch it. Keep Debbie as style consultant but not with Mark, they do not work well together, sorry but Debbie touches people too much, keep hands to yourself and she doesn’t listen to what the guests say, she does what she wants then sometimes wrong.… Read more »
So sad she has left!!! Hallmark mishandled this whole situation! You were not honest with your audience and your replacement was a poor choice. I didn’t like her on the View and don’t like her on your show! Won’t watch!
I eel Christina was a bit old for that co host part- she just didn’t look right for the part I am sure she will find a better job that fits her more
Debbie is too immature! Cristina is a class act and Debbie will NEVER be able to replace her!
The show is not the same with out Cristina. No I will not be watching the show. Hallmark made a mistake by replacing her.
I will no longer watch the shkow.Christina had a certain quality that resonated genuine family ties.She and Mark were great together. Home and Family is mot the same. A huge mistake to fire Christina. Very disappointing.
I will no longer watch the show. As far as I’m concerned Christina was the show. Big mistake!!! She represented the older generation. Loved her. No longer a fan of Home and Family.

Not watching anymore
Of course she will be missed. I think she had magnetism that not everyone has. She was very likeable. I’m sad to see her not on the show and think it was a mistake to let her go. The show has less to offer without her & I’ll see this week when I’m off from work if I’ll tune in or change the channel. Smh
