Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

I will no longer watch the show. What the Hallmark channel did is unforgivable. I will also boycott all Hallmark cards and products. Bring Christina back, she made the show.
I’ve watched some of the recent episodes of H & F, as I figured Cristina would be returning someday, however, after discovering she’s not returning, I don’t plan on watching the show any longer. Cristina had brought something to the show that it truly is now lacking, IMHO. That ‘something’ is genuineness! You could just tell and you just knew that Cristina was sincere & genuine. Christina brought Class and Maturityl Most families are not made up of just silly and foolishness like I have seen since her departure.
Another comment. I couldn’t stand Debbie since she was on the view. She’s loud, hyper and always has a “look at me attitude”. I will never watch again.

Watched a lottle.bit of the show this morning and did not like it at all. It’s missing that spark that Christina brought. She was perky in a good way. The girl filling in now does NOT fit. No goo chemistry there. I wont watch anymore. Total waste of.time.
Cristina MADE this show. Only found out last week she has been fired, I thought she was on vacation. The new girl just doesn’t have it. Won’t be watching the show any more.
1. If they really did remove Cristina because of her age, then shame on them. She’s elegant, funny, and identifies with the type of people that would watch a tv program like this in it’s time slot; ie, older, mature, retired, people that would strive to be gracious like her. I stopped watching H & F. I miss all the people that were removed. Christina was a great hostess. I miss Tanya’s DIY projects. Unless everyone comes back I will not watch H&F ever again. I’m a big ornament collector and I will not buy any this year.

Cristina, Almost 3 years ago my father passed away. I moved in with my Mom to keep her company and help take care of her. She introduced me to Home and Family. We watched the show every morning during the summer and we would record the show when I went back to work in Sept. My Mom would wait for me to come home from work so we could watch it together at dinnertime. You are so missed. You helped us through a very difficult time. Sorry to see such a well-cast show become what it has. Change is inevitable
in life, but it can be, nonetheless, foolish. Cristina was an attractive, warm and
vibrant presence and her absence is painfully obvious.
She is one of the reasons I watched I love her and I will no longer be watching. I have an extra hour in my day now.

I stopped recording and watching the day I heard this news. zero interest in the show without Cristina.
I thought I had made my comments for the day,but the more I thought about what I saw and heard on the show this morning (all 10 minutes that I could stomach !!!!!!) I got madder and madder!!!
