Yesterday, Hallmark Channel announced that host Cristina Ferrare would be replaced as co-host by regular contributor Debbie Matenopoulos. The cable channel didn’t specify when the change would take place.
Today, co-host Mark Steines made a quick announcement that Ferrare had left the show and that Matenopoulos would be replacing her, effective immediately. Ferrare hadn’t been on the show for two weeks and didn’t return for a send-off.
Fans of the show have been concerned if Ferrare was sick and have been wondering if the decision to leave was her decision. On her Facebook page, Ferrare confirmed that she is not sick and essentially says that she was fired. She wrote:
Okay here goes, I feel it’s important to finally step up to the plate and let you know what is happening.
First may I say that my family and I have been so thankful and appreciative for all the love, support, prayers, and good wishes you have been sending me on a daily basis for the past three weeks. It pained me so that I was unable to let you know what was going on out of respect for everyone on Home and Family and the Network. I was asked to wait and I have but now I feel I should out of respect for YOU let you know.
It’s really very simple, Home and Family will have a season 5 which I am so happy for and the Network decided that they want a new co-host and that will be Debbie. She will do a great job!
You can still reach me here on facebook and we shall continue honoring love of family and friends. I truly LOVE you all. You have been my rainbow!

Need a different co host or call it the Debbie show she makes it all about her I’m done watching been 3 months not as good without Christina
Home and family is no longer warm and inviting. It is time consuming and the 4 hours have become pointless. There is no family feeling. Not interested in watching anymore. Christina was Real Life and many of the us could relate to Christina and simply felt welcomed by her. I would prefer to watch old shows with Christina in them than this boring and non interactive co-host Team that is currently on the show. Not interested in the show now that Christine has been fired. Debbie is too loud, too touchy feely. The show has lost its dignity and class.

Christina was home &family now is not worth watching she is gone so am I!!!!!!
It saddens me to know that Cristina is no longer on Home and Family. Her and Mark, as a duo made the show. I’ve tried watching it now and I can’t get into it. Cristina is my favorite! Now that Cristina is gone, I’m gone!!!
Shame on you Hallmark. you got rid of the best thing you ever had. Christina was warm and welcoming. Debbie is using this show for personal gain. She cant keep her hands off the men. Her Husband should take her to task or divorce court. She hogs every segment. Mark talks through all the ladies segments so we cant hear what is being said or they dont get finished for the tom foolery him and Debie carry on. Just thought I would chime in with my opinion. Retired looking forward to watching every day. What a dissapointment!
I haven’t been able to get through a show yet without Christina. Tried, but it’s just not the same. Sad because I was really addicted to the show, now not so much. Won’t be tuning in.
I regret very much that Hallmark fired Christina and the horrible way you handled an already poor decision . Shame on anyone who had a part in this.
Just goes to show how shallow these people really are. HOME AND FAMILY? FAMILY doesn’t shove one off because of age. Christina was the main reason I watched. She was warm and down to earth. Her and mark had a great bond and worked very well together.. Now its just a bunch of plastic smiles. You made a horrible choice. And I will no longer be watching. Hope Christina is enjoying her time with the people that truly love her.

I liked Cristine as co host. I hope they didn’t FIRE her because of her age because if I find out they did I will not watch Home and Family. I personally have nothing against Debbie but she is not classy Cristina by a long shot. And I agree with Terri below that Cristina should have her own hour show. We don’t need shows about witches on a ‘family network’ or a so-called family network.
