You can’t keep the home fires burning in UK. The Home Fires TV show has been cancelled by ITV. Actor Daniel Ryan, who played Bryn Brindsley in the World War II era drama, broke the bad news on Twitter. His tweet reads: “So, it is with huge sadness I must tell you that #HomeFires has been cancelled. Awful to leave stories untold and lives incomplete. Sorry.”
Executive producer Catherine Oldfield also tweeted about the Home Fires cancellation, saying: “So very sorry that #Homefires won’t be back. We loved making the show & that it was well received by so many made it all the more special.” The Home Fires cast also includes: Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Ed Stoppard, Chris Coghill, Clare Calbraith, Fenella Woolgar, Mark Bazeley, and Mike Noble. Many of them have tweeted about the cancellation, too.
The second season of the Home Fires TV series is set during the summer of 1940. The village of Great Paxford is caught up in the the Battle of Britain. Two weeks after the defeat at Dunkirk, with the German army advancing through France, Britain braces itself for invasion.
Home Fires season two ended on a cliffhanger, with a plane nose-diving into a home in the village.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Home Fires? Should the Home Fires TV show have been cancelled or renewed? Let us know, below.
I’m so disappointed Home Fires has been cancelled. Each episode got better and better. Each character grew and drew you into their lives. So many cliff hangers, unanswered questions. Please reconsider season 3 at least to bring closure.
I have watched this in the U.S. On amazon prime. It is one of my all time favorite shows. Please consider bringing this back! Good quality tv is nearly non-existent in these times!
Please, please, please bring back Home Fires. What in the world were you thinking when you cancelled Season 3?!?! You couldn’t possibly have anything better!
Just binge watched season 1 and 2 – a great cast and story – unbelievable they wouldn’t at least wrap it up with a third season.
I am very sorry that you cancelled Home Fires! I just watched season 1 and 2 back to back and came online to find out that you cancelled it!!!!!!!!!! It is a shame that you couldn’t find a way to finish the story. It is like reading a book and finding the last 100 pages missing!!! Please find a way!
One of the best shows ever. I can’t believe it was cancelled. Who is the genius that decided to do that? Such a lack of quality out there. It was a rare gem.
I can’t imagine why such an excellent series would be cancelled. The acting & everything about this series is of the highest quality. It never fails, we find something of this calibre to watch and it gets cancelled, while the same nonsensical drivel on T.V. drones on & on. To cancel the show is bad enough but to cancel it without first concluding the storylines shows total disrespect for the viewers. I hope the powers that be will reconsider but it probably won’t happen. The faithful viewers seem to be the last people anyone wants to please.
Please bring back Home fires. Ending far from complete. Too many Cliff Hangers. Was so refreshing to see quality acting without any current political commentary.
I don’t know why this series was shown in Australia if we were going to be left hanging like this. I so wanted Pat to leave her husband and go with Marek. I think producers have a responsibility to behave ethically in regard to viewers and not simply leave a story hanging because for some reason it doesn’t suit. Imagine if Homer decided not to finish the Iliad and the Odyssey? Home Fires might not be Greek mythology but it tells us an untold story, one that most of us didn’t know, about the contribution of country women in the… Read more »
Just watched the final episode of Season 2 (in Australia) and very sad to find out one line that there will be no Season 3. Maybe Netflix could pick this up?
So very disappointed . One of the best drama series I’ve seen and to just have no ending seems very odd. Especially as there is not a lot of really good TV viewing these days .
Please do not cancel Home Fires. It is unfair and unprofessional on your part to began an excellent story and then cancel it before the conclusion. You disappoint me.
Please, please reconsider completing this wonderful series! What possible reason could there be not to? Such a great story — left with such a cliffhanger and so many loose ends. How could you do this?
Absolutey Loved Home Fires…bring it back please!
I agree with some of the comments below. How can you leave a show with such a Cliff Hanger. It almost makes me not trust the producers and makes me not want to watch any more shows produced by them. You fall I love with the characters and to just leave people without an ending to the characters they love is a waste of people’s time. I really hope that the decision to cancel the show will be recanted and the show will be brought back.
