Homeland is returning to Showtime with season five tonight. The series is revamping itself in a big way this season. Carrie, played by Claire Danes, is still the woman at the head of the series, but the series is taking her in a new direction.
This could be the norm for the series each season, according to series creator Alex Gansa. He spoke about the future of the series, and he is already looking beyond season five. He is talking about season six and beyond for this series.
He shared his thoughts for the future of Homeland with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re adopting the model that The Wire and 24 set. Each season we pick up Carrie in a new geographic location and a new emotional location as well. It’s going to be a big part of the show moving forward.”
Season five of Homeland is set in Berlin. Carrie has left the C.I.A. behind, and she has a new life. Her focus is on raising her child, her new job, and her new boyfriend. However, she will be sucked back into the world she left behind. Spoilers from Entertainment Weekly teased that “some of Carrie’s past misdeeds will come back to haunt her in the premiere.”
Spoiler TV’s advanced preview for the premiere did call the episode the “best season opener since the pilot” for the series.

Will there be a season 6? If so, when?
Great show. The only show on tv I continually look forward to.
I predict Homeland will last seven seasons.
