Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

I’ve continued to hunt for episodes to this series, to no avail. Not a typical “action” fan, the show pulled me in and I’m a loyal viewer – 48 years old, female, professional, tax payer, and I can’t find good programming on television. Shame. It was so refreshing to see television that entertained. I’m ready to give up dust collector all together now. If I see one more reporter share their opinion rather than the news, have to skip through channel after channel because I don’t care for the “drama” of singing competitions or cooks … I’ll just turn it… Read more »
The show was a great action packed show that has a great storyline. The show would have done much better in the ratings if the network quit bouncing it around and cancelling the shows and changing the programing schedule. If they kept it on the same day and time, I am sure it will be a hit series for the network. I am tired of all the reality shows and the networks need shows with action and adventure. It was an original idea and a great show. I purchased the first series DVD and hope you make the 2nd series… Read more »
I find it interesting that any show on Fox that is creative and makes one think gets the can from the Fox people who don’t think nor as management is not creative in their work or living. I found Season I on sale and have totaly enjoyed it. In passing and looking for other shows not (The Fringe) I found one episode on the Fox network and decided to watch. Problem with the exception of Bones Fox does not have content I need to watch. I would be watching Human Target if I could figure out where they are burying… Read more »
It figures – every time I discover and enjoy a program, the powers that be screw with the time slots and then it disappears. This is why I NEVER watch first seasons of ANYthing – they just get yanked in favor of yet another totally STUPID STUPID STUPID contest/reality show! But, what can we REALLY expect from a fox affiliate?
I love Human Target! It’s a great action-packed show, with humor put in at the right moments. I love the characters. They mesh well together. The scenarios are a delight compared to some of the ideas of other shows and all the other reality shows. Please keep this on as this is one of my favorite shows out there today. Like another person stated, they can’t keep moving it around. Leave it in a good spot and you’ll find that it will flourish.
I enjoyed watching Human Target. I was never polled so I am surprised the show is being pushed around. I too am tired of reality shows which are not reality but Hollywood. Human Target was a fresh show with some very good talent. I will miss the show if it does not come back. There is so little to watch that is any good.
Human Target is a delightfully scripted and acted program that gives those of us who gag at American Idol a fresh view.
Please leave the program in a predictable time slot so viewers can rely on a way to find it!!
It’s the network who has failed the viewers, not the program.

loved human target but it was always hard to find on tv it just needs regular time slot. Yall need to try to keep it on in a regular time slot. it is the best show on except for fringe
Fox has this really bad habit of destroying really good T.V. shows Firefly (The greatest show ever made ) being the prime example. John Doe was one as well and they may just do it again with another perfectly good show. Human Target has plenty of good stuff story, characters, action with a dash of humor to balance out the plot. I personally loved Guerrero or however you pronounce his name. It like firefly lets you get to know the characters a little bit at a time not pelt you with mindless action or overdone drama. The characters are understandable,… Read more »
sent no network as a storng Sunday line up sent xena and Hercules put both shows on Sunday lie to me and human target that would make Sundays back o. The map for something to watch angin
They jumped the shark on HT when they brought in the “new owner”. Hyper-know-nothing character injected into the middle of the action.
They “double-jumped” the shark when Chance and she started making out. HELLO! There’s no chemistry there.
Other than that the show was pretty good.
Should be returned to original format. Have an employee buyout.
I like the show very much. The trouble often was trying to find when it was playing.
DUMP THE BROADS!……..The storyline seems to make this more of a comedy than an action series. Go back to the old format. They get in the way trying to give them lines
Do you think NCIS or CSI would be popular if you had to hunt them down every week? Get a reasonable time slot and stick to it. Like some of your other viewers I am tired of all the contest shows. I’ll switch to another channel or read a book.
II like the show but it ticks me off they keep moving it around. I hate reality shows and could care less about them. I get enough reality during the day.
Fox messed up by pulling Firefly. Now will do the same with Human Target. Most of the other networks just keep running re runs of the same shows IE NCIS ad nausem. Give us something good to watch and keep it on the air to find a following .
