Telly’s Take
The premiere episode earned low numbers and the ratings have improved only slightly. The premium cabler needs a new hit but it’s clear that this show isn’t it. I suspect I’m Dying Up Here will be cancelled but I’ll keep a hungry eye trained on the ratings and update this page as needed. What do you think? Are you glad that the I’m Dying Up Here TV show was renewed for a second season? How would you feel if Showtime had cancelled this TV show, instead?
Renew renew renew and promote this show. It is intelligent raw funny and sad. It describes life as it was back then and how it still is today. Scripts and cast all first class. Don’t make the mistake HBO made with Vinyl. This show deserves to grow and develop. It is not a comedy which may be what people expected. It is real.
It is hilarious, inducing heartfelt, raucous laughter more times than i can remember, other than maybe Sopranos.
LOVE this show! Hope it’s renewed.
Renew! Renew! Renew! Did I say you should Renew. Exactly what we need. More comedy.
I LOVE this show!! One of the best new hour series I’ve seen in a long time. Excellent mix of drama and comedy, excellent writing and superb acting. I’m Dying Up Here not only deserves a second season, but *several* more seasons. Been a loyal viewer (and a quite vocal one) from the first episode and will continue to be.
Showtime, I hope you realize what a treasure you have on your hands with this series and renew it ASAP!!
Watched the first Episode & felt a sort of neutral “meh” – then few months later heard Jim Carrey talk about it on Stern Interview & gave it another look. SO glad I did. Once I gained additional understanding of the backstory, viewed it more as a docu-drama of Comedic History, it clicked. Wound up LOVING it.
The Ensemble of Actors incredibly talented – within the Character group there was someone every Viewer either knew or could relate with.
Love this show. I watch it faithfully and would not be happy if it got cancelled.
Renew! I love this real look at stand up “comedy.”
This show is great a great dramedy
I LOVE this show. Every element is brilliantly executed. It is the series manifestation of “Dying is easy, comedy is hard.” I’m so hoping it’s renewed. Showtime would be crazy to cancel it; they should promote it.
Absolutely love this show. One of the best things I have seen in a long time– nails the ethos at the heart of the art of comedy (which is really the human condition) while still wildly entertaining.
Love it! Hope it’s renewed for a second season.
I. *******. Love. This. Show.
The critics are attempting to bury one of the best ensemble dramas since ‘Freaks and Geeks’ (whose tone it resembles immensely, with a dash of Boogie Nights, obviously), and, just like that show, they don’t (and won’t) ‘get it’. Ten years from now, when people are binge-watching this and saying, ‘Why didn’t they make more of these?’ (just like ‘Freaks and Geeks’), you’ll know who to blame. My guess is it’s Mr Carrey’s name being in the mix.
Personally, I hope this runs for as long as ‘Cheers’.
I couldn’t have said it any better. Personally, I feel more like an active participant than a viewer. There’s a very real sense of camaraderie with this cast. Like you wouldn’t be wrong to think that these actors and comedians playing actors and comedians really do go out to eat with each other after a day on the set. Also, just like Freaks and Geeks this show absolutely nails the look and feel of it’s day. I could go on (..and on) about why this show is so important and necessary. Instead, I’ll just continue hope that Showtime sees the… Read more »
I absolutely love it! Brilliant! Refreshing! And I laugh!
I hope it’s on the Renew list! Loving this Sunday summer show- balances our usual Billions ritual with something a little differnt with hilarious writing!
Show is terrible! Hope it gets canceled.
