Disney Channel has confirmed what Jessie co-star Peyton List leaked months ago, that the TV show is ending after four seasons. While Jessie is ending after 101 episodes, three of the characters (played by List, Karan Brar and Skai Jackson) will return in a new as-yet-unnamed Disney sitcom.
Here are the details on the new show:
DISNEY CHANNEL WILL SPIN-OFF HIT COMEDY SERIES “JESSIE”
Disney Channel has ordered a spin-off series of the hit comedy “Jessie,” which has consistently ranked among the Top TV series across Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens over its four seasons. It was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. Peyton List, Karan Brar and Skai Jackson reprise their roles of Emma, Ravi and Zuri Ross, respectively.
The yet-to-be-titled spin-off series will be part of Disney Media Sales and Marketing’s presentations to clients in the coming week. Continuing her long association with the Disney Channel hit series, series creator, Pamela Eells O’Connell (“Jessie,” “The Suite Life on Deck”), will executive-produce.
The new production is scheduled to begin in spring 2015.
“‘Jessie’ has been a fan favorite for the past four years,” Bonnett said. “We are excited that viewers all over the world can continue to watch the humorous antics of Emma, Ravi and Zuri, beloved characters played brilliantly by Peyton, Karan and Skai.”
Season to date, “Jessie,” which has 101 episodes produced (four seasons), ranks as the #2 cable TV series among Kids 6-11 (1.2 million/4.9 rating) and among the Top 5 live-action series in Kids 2-11 (1.4 million/3.4 rating).
Disney Channel is a 24-hour kid-driven, family-inclusive television network that taps into the world of kids and families through original series and movies. Currently available on basic cable in over 96 million U.S. homes and to millions of other viewers on Disney Channels around the world, Disney Channel is part of the Disney ABC Television Group.
What do you think? Do you like the Jessie TV show? Will you be tuning in for the new show?
Nooooo I love Jessie
Sherrie, I understand but you seriously need to calm down. Disney can’t make more seasons because we won’t get new shows. The limit is 4 seasons. Stop getting mad about it people. It could be 2 seasons but it isn’t. So show some respect people. You don’t know the money it is or what Disney could do. Maybe they might have a get together. Don’t blame it all on Disney. Disney AIGNED A CONTRACT HOW HARD IS IT TO UNDERSTAND?! A contract is used to make a DEAL. I’m upset it ended too but we shouldn’t talk nasty about Disney.
My kids are devastated that the TV show is going off air they really enjoyed it especially because if the multicultural history and different personality along with real life obsticules they face so we bought all episodes to rewatch thought they had one more season with Jessie especially when they didn’t let her get married just fyi
I think it’s BULL!!!! Kids theses days NEVER get to grow up with a show. It’s selfish ..sorry but is kid of selfish to stop. I cannot find anywhere why The actress who plays Jessie wants to produce and stop Jessie?? So my 7 year old is crying and cannot stop. Hey Disney come out with a new show. Where the contracted actors and actresses stay for 8 years enough for a child to grow up with the show/ 4 years? wow too short. Someone tells us why it stopped.
Well, it’s sad to say but so long Jessie. Jessie always taught us about life and how it changes. So long Jessie and good Debby Ryan. If you watch the last episode they NEVER updated the theme intro. Look at how little they were! It’s like it started yesterday. Hopefully Disney will add another show that will grab us like Jessie. I’m des pressed with Friends how I kinda read the next episodes on Netflix which Racheal and Ross take a break for season 3 and now I’m mad. I’m even more depressed with Jessie ended! I HATE BEING DESPRESSED
Wait but there are some shows that have exceeded 4 years and 4 seasons and what about Dog with a Blog? R they ending just after 3 seasons and it also ended so suddenly?
I know, all my favorite shows are ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love jessie and hate that their ending it. But bunk’d is ok to.
Yeah but Bunk’d only has like 4 episodes
Well there’s Bunk’d. Jessie is closing on October 16, 2015 FINALE EVENT.
I just watched it I stared balling
I have a question for Jessie fans are they still going to show reruns of the show
The reason why Jessie is ending it’s cuz they’re contract with Disney is up Disney contracts only last 3 to 4 years look at wizards of Waverly place the ending after 4 seasons as well same with shake it up and good luck Charlie and ant farm it’s cuz they’re contracts are up I know it doesn’t seem like 4 years but it is Jessie started in 2011 and we’re in 2015 I hope this helps you guys understand.
There are 2 reasons why they are canceling Jessie.
1. They usually don’t make a 5th season.
2. Debby is turning pretty bad. She color her hair and got a nose ring. Prepare for another wrecking ball.
Lol wreaking like Miley
Thats not why they are ending. They are ending because they have a 4 year/season contract.
Bunk’d is actually a pretty good show but I’m going to miss jessie
Why is the show ending anyway , I can’t find a reason on any website , did the actor who plays Jesse do drugs or something?
No they ended the show because Camern going on a new TV show and and the rest I don’t relly know they might on a different TV show too
No someone walked in on her when she was changeing
That’s not true at all it was fake nobody walked in on her
Because they don’t want to keep paying them. They’re getting older and they’re gonna get tired of Jessie. Emma I think is 18 and Zuri is 13,and Ravi is I think is 16. Plus when Debby Ryan heard Jessie was being canceled she colored her hair green and got a nose ring.
is it true that disney cancels a show before the fifth year,so they don’t have to pay the actors royalties for reruns of their old showes?
ken
Disney not only ends series because of cost but also that it’s the generation cycle of the kids that watch it. They believe that after 4 years their audience Will move on to other shows.
Yes we will try the new show, love Zuri, Emma, & Ravi. Hoping Bertram will join the new show!!!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it’s a great show why are the canceling it
I know right but there is still bunk’d
