Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air.
I Love this show, I really like Kerr Smith too, loved him in Dawson’s Creek, and I love him in this role too.
Maybe they should turn “Justice” into a movie.
R.I.P. “JUSTICE”

With all due respect to the people that make these decisions for FOX… I BELIEVE YOU TOOK OUT ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS YOU’VE HAD… as good as 24, House, Bones, way better than Prison Break… you have nothing good on Thrusdays or Fridays now!
PLEASE PUT IT BACK.
Thank you.
This is my first time writing about a show being cancelled because they usually deserve it. FOX sucks and the people who had something to do with cancelling Justice one of the best shows on right now outside Law & Order only thing keep FOX alive is John Walsh’s AMW because everything else isn’t worth watching. I can’t seem to understand how a show about people who can’t raised their own damn kids can beat out a show like Justice well I guess I’m back to watching this station once or a week but twice during football season FU FOX!!!
What is going on, Justice was an awsome show. I never missed an episode. It was the only crime show that should what really happend to the victims. BRING JUSTICE BACK….PLAESE!!!!!
I am shocked, you move Justice around so it can’t be found, then cancel it. Put it back on and leave it! It will catch on like Bones and others if you leave it alone and let it go! Bring it back it brought class to Fox!
THIS WAS THE BEST PROGRAM OF THE NEW SEASON…REALLY ORIGINAL. FOX MOVED IT AROUND AND AROUND AND THEN REPLACED IT’S FRIDAY NIGHT TIME SLOT WITH SOME STUPID ASS REALITY SHOW. I WISH SOME OTHER CHANNEL WOULD PICK IT UP. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON FOX.
There was 1000000 peoples in china ,We want king return.
I am very disappointed that FOX chose to cancel Justice. As an employee of the criminal justice system in PA, this was a very real show. I especially liked the ending where it was shown the way the event really happened and the viewer could tell if justice was served. Changing the nights didn’t help the ratings either.
I have never done this before; written in about a show that has been cancelled. But Justice, is such a FANTASTIC show. I just happened to stumble across it one day and I was immediately taken in by it. I couldn’t wait until the following week to see it again. Unfortunately, I only had the opportunity to see it twice before it was cancelled. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was. After watching only two episodes this had become my favorite show. I think marketing and advertising are the sole contributors of its demise. I had never even seen… Read more »
Fox chose to cancel their best new show in a long time. Justice definately had the potential to beat out other prime time shows on other networks and they blew it! The story lines were great as were the characters. I could name a hand full of shows that should have gotten the axe instead of Justice. Any news that maybe a comeback could be in the works?
I have been wondering what happened to Justice and went online tonight to find out just where in the heck Fox has moved it to now and I discover that it’s been cancelled! My husband and I only watched House on Fox since all of their other shows are terrible until we discovered Justice. Then they kept moving the nights around so you had to search for it. No wonder it couldn’t keep an audience; viewers just didn’t know when it was on. C’mon Fox, you finally get a good show and you cancel it? What are you thinking?!!! I… Read more »
How could you???? That was a great show. Yall Suck!!!! I love 24. But was so happy to have a great lawyer show out there. Boston Legal is so crapy. Justic was better than that. With all the people upset about it, I don’t understand why you can’t bring it back. What about all of us who love to watch it?
Nanny 911 isnt even good at all. I never knew about fox canceling shows but, I think Justice is like the best law TV show on tv. There is no show on fox that is better than JUSTICE. Probably not even a movie they would play. You got to Bring that show back FOX! Somebody needs to bring it back. Im looking forward to it.
