Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air.
I was so upset to see that Justice was cancelled. I absolutely love this show. The actors are some of the best I have ever seen. I love the concept of the show…so original. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Bring back this show. I know quite a few million people would be eternally grateful if you would give this great show another chance.
IM SO SAD! ITS NOT FAIR. it the only good lawyer show since ally mcbeal.U GUYS KILLED LAW, WHERES THE JUSTICE!!!
IM SO SAD…NOOOO. and tom was sexy
and couldn’t they even let it finish…i prefer justice over nanny 911.that show is so sh*t.
I am VERY disappointed that Fox chose to cancel “Justice” My family enjoyed sitting down and watching it together. I wish that they would reconsider. I wish that would think about what they are doing before they do. I LOVED THE SHOW.
If you want “Justice” to be on DVD, go to http://www.tvshowsondvd.com and vote for “Justice” to be on DVD!
I wish that they would make a website called http://www.savejustice.com and have over a million signatures on the online petitions.
I hope Fox reconsiders cancelling this great show. My husband and I loved it from the first show and it’s only gotten better. We got our whole family to start watching it and Fox yanks it – nothing like pulling a great show and leaving idiotic ones behind. Fox should give it another chance and leave it on the same day and time to gather an audience.
Fox is STUPID to cancel Justice. Instead of throwing out trash shows like O.C., they killed Justice. Please brighten up. By the way, that American Idol thing will become boring soon. Not sure what’s the big deal about it. Maybe there are too many star want-to-be’s. Sigh.
Maybe people who want the show back should contact their local FOX network & ask for it (not just post on this site):

Justice was a great show & I just found out it was canceled. I looked forward to watching it weekly, one of only 3 shows that I watched a week. I thought the marketing for the show was poor & yes, moving it around made it difficult to find. I don’t feel FOX gave the show enough opportunity nor the right exposure to reach those FOX viewers who aren’t all about cartoons.
I have been wondering what happened – i am disappointed – there is nothing on Friday nights to watch – i guess i will go back to reading books
FOX ALWAYS CANCEL THEIR SHOWS BECAUSE OF RATINGS, RATINGS, RATINGS!!! WHAT ABOUT THE QUALITY AND THE ORIGINALITY OF THE SHOW, NOT THEIR RATINGS!!! ON THE WIKIPEDIA.COM ENCYLOPEDIA, FOX HAS A VERY HUGE LIST ON THE SHOWS THAT THEY’VE CANCELLED AND “JUSTICE” IS ON THE LIST! “JUSTICE” WAS MOST NOTABLE AND THEY DECIDED TO CANCEL IT PREMATURELY. FOX NEVER PAID CLOSE ATTENTION ON HOW GOOD THIS SHOW REALLY IS. AT FIRST, I IGNORED THE SHOW, NOW I LOVED THE SHOW, DO YOU? I DOUBT IT THAT FOX ARE GOING TO HAVE TERRIBLE SHOWS DURING MIDSEASON AND THEY WOULD BE CANNED AS… Read more »
One of the best shows on TV. Right up there with CSI and NCIS. Keep on air or sell to CBS.
If a person takes time out of
their schedule to find out what
happened to a truly enjoyable
show, it tells you one thing,
Justice Is A Hit Show. Someone
somewhere will see it and believe
it.
Fox was starting to have the “edge of your seat” excitement when “Justice” was on. Now, Fox is starting to get lame when “Justice” was off the air. SHAME ON YOU FOX FOR PULLING THE PLUG ON “JUSTICE”!!!!
Fox really sucks!!! They cancel this show and keep all the other mindless ones like Standoff? Can that guy really act? I am so disappointed. I couldn’t wait to see Justice every week. I hope a REAL network decides to pick this show up.
