Airing on Sunday nights, The Last Man on Earth has never been a hit in the ratings and the numbers keep dropping. Will they keep falling? Will the FOX show be cancelled or is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fourth season so there will be enough episodes for a syndication package? Stay tuned.
On The Last Man on Earth, a deadly virus has devastated the planet and Phil Miller (Will Forte) believes he’s the last human alive. Phil eventually finds other survivors and he ends up being alternatingly elated and miserable. What will happen next? The rest of the cast includes Kristen Schaal, January Jones, Mel Rodriguez, Mary Steenburgen, and Cleopatra Coleman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of The Last Man on Earth averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.75 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Last Man on Earth TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled instead of renewed for a fourth season?
5/10 update: FOX has renewed The Last Man on Earth for a fourth season. Details here.
The show really is a mixed bag. The one episode can be surprisingly good, but it’s not uncommon to have some pretty awful follow-up episodes. I’ll keep watching it anyway, because they do manage to pull me back in when the show annoyed the hell out of me in previous episodes.
I stopped watching it cold after they turned the pilot into a sick liberal fantasy about watching Republicans they hate die one by one (real people with families). It was such an unnecessary hate fest too. If Will Forte cares more about indulging his childish partisan side than making a quality product that appeals to Americans outside of his little bubble then screw him.
And by “pilot” I meant to say this past season premier.
Um, you do realize this show takes place during the apocalypse right? Hillary and Obama are dead too.
How triggered can you conservatives get? I’m neither Republican nor Democrat, but this whole “liberal propaganda” shtick is getting old.
My point went completely over your head, even if my post did trigger you. It’s not about people just being “dead”, it’s how those deaths are showcased, timing, context, etc..
Blah blah blah. They died because they were the administration currently in the white house. Yes, maybe Will forte is liberal, but if this show is such a ‘sick liberal fantasy’ then why isn’t every episode bashing conservatives?
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!! Seriously the best show ever. My boyfriend and I watch it every week with a pizza and beer its our favorite day of the week! So funny makes my day!
Yes season four needs to come out I’m dieing to see more who the hell woudnt enjoy a show like that!!!!keep me laughing threw the whole show.and felt like it ended to soon and without enough closure lol..will be so upset if I can’t enjoy more of it
This show started so well and has become so bogged down in itself it needs to be shot like an old horse that can only walk in circles. There was SO much potential in the stories of wacky people getting by in the post-apocalyptic world and that potential has been totally squandered for the sake of garbage one-liners and tiny sub-stories. They’ve lost sight of the bigger picture entirely and everything that made this show different and funny. Now it’s just a crap sitcom. Kill it.
Please don’t cancel!
This is the funniest show ever! So nice to have some lighthearted humor! Please don’t cancel! This show can go on and on!
This show is hilarious and fantastic! Please do NOT cancel!
Don’t cancel this show pl0x.
This show has so much potential, but Tandy keeps trying to be funny for more of the show. He’s. Not. Funny.
Did the writers just get bored? The plot could go anywhere. It needs to be an hour and the timeline the characters are in needs to speed up. Really? Carol and Erika aren’t showing their pregnancies yet?
Please don’t cancel! We love the show! Can’t wait to season 4!
Love love love this show, I would be having a stress day at work first thing I did is turn on last man on earth and be happy and season three left off with way too many questions
My wife and I have Beng watched all three seasons and are just waiting to for more!! Keep the show going it’s hilarious!!
I really enjoyed the show, it’s one of the few series that I recorded. It will be missed. I wish it would have been an hour long show. Netflix seems to be the future, maybe they would pick it up and find new episodes. The big public stations are going downhill so fast I only watch the news on them, I’ll be happy when they’re gone!
My husband and I love the last man on Earth. We hope they keep this show and continue the saga. Very entertaining! Can’t wait to see what they do next!
