Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

This is the best show ever! What is wrong with ABC? I bet the Hallmark channel would jump to have for season seven. I agree, this is in the caliber of MASH! I will follow it anywhere…..the entire cast is awesome….Tim Allen is a treasure……
I am so sad about losing the show. It was a highlight of my week to watch it….so funny!!! Please bring it back!!!!
Last Man Standing is one of the best written shows on tv. Kind of like M.A.S.H. was. You don’t have to agree with the views expressed-it’s still funny. Who can’t use a good laugh? I hope it shows up somewhere else.
Love this show… Very disappointed. Have watched all the seasons on Netflix. Don’t even mind the Canadian jabs.
Very Upset! I sure hope FOX or NETFLIX picks it up. It is a very funny show and a refreshing point of view in a crowded sea of left leaning sitcoms. i will definitely follow it to whatever station picks it up!
Very upset, this is a very humorous show for Friday nights, and I always looked forward to this come the end of the work week. This is a huge mistake and I hope some other TV station picks it up.
One of the most clever, entertaining shows on tv. Typical. The reality shows continue to show the worst of human behavior while a family show with good writing, showing good values gets cut.

My family were so disappointed to find out Last Man Standing was cancelled as we loved this program, and will be hoping and lobbying for it to be picked back up and are not happy with ABC.
I think ABC is foolish for canceling last Man standing is a very popular shower and I truly enjoyed looking forward to it every Friday night please reconsider

This news a shock me and family. We really enjoyed the show. And have been waiting for season 7 to come out. Now to know there won’t another season a disappointment.

ABC should have paid whatever price to get it back. I’d bet a dollar to a dozen donuts it was because it wasn’t a piece of liberal puppet crap like most TV shows are. What a shame but I bet it will be picked up elsewhere…like FOX. See ya ABC !!
