Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

Very disappointed. One of the best family shows. They weren’t afraid to put Christian values in some of their episodes. Good natured humor. Bring it back!!!
I realize the totally altar left show the view is on mornings but cancel it and put reruns of last man standing shows and new episodes during this time. We need to see both sides right and left . Based on what I saw in the ratings there are shows that fared worse that have been renewed why? Because of their left leaning?

DEVASTATED!!! It’s the best show on TV …. true family shows that aren’t sappy or corny, rude or filled with swearing are like hen’s teeth … NOT THERE!!!! except for Last Man Standing. There IS an audience and praying SOMEONE can see their way to putting this family back in our homes. Come on…play nice!!!!!
Im shocked that Last Man Standing was cancelled. One of my all time favorites. I thought it better than Modern Family. Very sorry ABC cancelled it. Hope maybe TNT or another network will pick it up. Very disappointed.
I think Last Man Standing is by far the best sit-com on tv. Intelligent humor with an excellent cast. Big mistake to cancel it!
ABC network is now dead to me after it canceled one of the best shows on TV. It was done due to liberal politics and everybody knows that is a fact. That was a great show for a network which produces some of the dumbest TV shows I have ever seen. As a result I will never watch that network again. If they continue down the liberal road of politics and try to feed people what they think is best for them they are going to fail as a business and go under. We LOVE this show! One of the funniest, family shows on television! Not many , anymore, that you can sit down and watch with your kids and grandkids!! Big mistake to cancel it!
Best show on television! ABC should have never cancelled this show. This is the reason I’m not watching much of ABC anymore

This is a great show and is very funny we really enjoy it please keep it going. There are not many comedies out there we need to just kick back and laugh and we r Canadian

I wonder how much money had to do with renewing the show. Was there sufficient interest from potential sponsors to endorse the show? Ratings will affect the networks ability to sell the show to potential sponsors. I wonder what another time slot would do for the ratings.
It took syndication for me to find this show. It is funny, without being uncouth, advocating decency, faith, and morals. Something the prime time networks do not seem to be interestedin.
