Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

ABC – you make no sense !! This is your BEST comedy BY FAR !!! Excellent dialog & acting – I hope Netflix (or someone) picks it up.
This is one of the funniest, family oriented shows on TV…what is wrong with ABC??? I hope that another network will pick it up which would be their win and ABC’s loss. This is such a good show…Tim Allen is a natural and he has a great cast right along with him. I am so disappointed and sad to see this show cancelled…just not fair because I know there are a lot of other fans out there like me that really enjoy it.
All I can say is keep it, or pick it up. One of the only shows out there that my kids and husband enjoy watching with me.

This was one of the best shows on television! ABC, you made a mistake canceling this great show. I hope another network is smarter, and picks it up soon.
What a disappointment. I love this show. I looked forward to this show every week. In fact I watch the old episodes on CMT. I am so sad. I hope another network picks it up.
Of course a liberal owned TV station would cancel a show where the main character, a white male conservative, speaks his mind and is a successful husband, father and businessman.
This show had some of the most consistently funny and CLEVER dialog on TV.
It needed some better time slot scheduling. I’m currently watching all of the
reruns from the beginning of the series. I hope some other channel will
pick it up.
I love this show. I would watch it on any channel. ABC what is wrong with you? This is the best show on TV. I laugh at all the jokes every time I watch them. Tim Allen is great and all of the co-stars are perfect too. Shame on you ABC, you’ve list a viewer.
I’m sad to see LMS end. It was one of the last “family oriented” shows left on TV. I hope the show is picked up by another network.

Big surprise with ABC…I hope someone else picks it up! Here is something that explains why ABC is losing so much viewers… Modern family -16.19% less viewers, they renewed it. How to get away with murder -30.66% less viewers…renewed. They only have 4.6 million people watching this. The Middle -20.88%…this was renewed? Last man standing down only -5.11% CANCELLED?
