Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

How can trash like Modern Family be renewed but Last Man Standing is cancelled? Not enough crude language in it huh?
I love this show. It’s one of the best shows on TV right now. Tim Allen and all of the other actors are great. It’s just a good family show and an alternative to all of the lame cop, doctor, lawyer, reality shows on TV. A real shame it’s been cancelled.

We watch Last Man Standing every day on Hallmark or CMT. It is a great family show without trash talk and vulgarity. It is funny and has great moral value for all. We hope another network will pick it up.
Allens politics really destroyed this show and it was obvious he was intentionally putting in all of those anti liberal ideologies to espouse his own personal political views.
He has always been known for his staunch radical political views and that ultimately destroyed a show that initially started out promising.
It also did not help that the writing was horrible and the humor was so flat and dull most of the time.
In an interview with Tim Allen he addressed the political comments. He said they were WRITTEN by the writers and DID NOT express his personal views. And in other interviews I got the impression he was NOT a fan of politics in general…………….all politics. And I can certainly understand that.
Per Tim Allen most of their writers were Liberals, and that’s why the show worked. Everyone could poke fun at each other.
Do you even watch the other shows? So…it’s completely ok to trash any conservative on TV, but heaven help it if we make fun of the craziness going on over on the liberal side.
