Last Man Standing may be cancelled, but it’s not leaving TV anytime soon. Recently, WGN America announced the Tim Allen sitcom will join their programming lineup this month.
Despite good ratings and a successful syndication deal, ABC cancelled Last Man Standing last May after six seasons. The comedy centered on Mike Baxter (Allen), a marketing director for the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores who lives with his wife and three daughters. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Hector Elizondo, Flynn Morrison, Jordan Masterson, and Jonathan Adams.
Last Man Standing premieres on WGN America on April 30th.

LOS ANGELES, March 29, 2018 — WGN America announced today it is expanding its slate to include the popular family sitcom “Last Man Standing.” The network will be adding the Tim Allen (“Home Improvement,” Toy Story) comedy to its programming schedule, starting Monday, April 30, 2018.
“We’re very excited to welcome comedy mega-star Tim Allen and his hit sitcom ‘Last Man Standing’ to WGN America,” said Gavin Harvey, President of WGN America. “Our viewers love a good laugh and we are confident ‘Last Man Standing’ will contribute to the momentum that has made WGN America one of cable’s fastest growing networks.”
From 20th Century Fox Television and distributed by Twentieth Television, “Last Man Standing” follows the life of Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), hilarity-ensuing family man and the marketing director for an iconic outdoor sporting goods store. While Mike is “king of the hill” at work, he’s the odd man out in a home that is dominated by strong-willed women — namely his wife, Vanessa (Nancy Travis), and their three daughters, 20- year-old Kristin (Amanda Fuller), 17-year-old Mandy (Molly Ephraim) and 13-year-old Eve (Kaitlyn Dever). After being a stay-at-home mom for years, Vanessa recently returned to the workplace, requiring Mike to be more hands on than he’s ever been before.
The Emmy(R)-nominated show starring Tim Allen, Nancy Travis (“The Bill Engvall Show,” The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries) is created by Jack Burditt (“30 Rock,” “Frasier,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”). Tim Allen, Matt Berry (“Desperate Housewives,” “Reba”), Marty Adelstein (“Prison Break,” “Teen Wolf”), Becky Clements (“Aquarius”), Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things,” Arrival), Richard Baker (The Santa Clause, “The Drew Carrey Show”), and Rick Messina (The Santa Clause, “The Drew Carrey Show”) serve as executive producers of the series.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Last Man Standing? Will you watch it on WGN America?
Did not like it, stupid, in my opinion.
Ratings for this show were at the top. You have to like comedy!
So excited! I love this show! Good humor!
Awesome show.. watch it all the time on channel 5.2 at 4 and 4:30pm. Super excited that it’s coming back. Love Tim Allen and all the cast members and the writing on the show!!!
Love the show, and hope it’s coming back! Shame on those that cancelled it.
I wish someone would pick up the show and produce it. It is so funny and so diverse. I love Tim Allen and the other actors are great too.
Let’s see if ABC brings it back for new episodes this fall. Repeats are nice, but the show had great ratings when it was cancelled.
Let’s get it off ABC. I like the Fox idea. You never know though.
Best news I heard all year. Last man standing is by far one of if not the best comedy ever.
Now if you can bring Baby’s Daddy with it their would be an explosion of laughter.
Can’t wait until 4/30. Thanks they got a raw deal being cancelled.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK FOR MORE SEASONS!!!! VERY SMART WRITING, AMAZING CAST, GREAT DIALOG!
I enjoy the series and even have most on DVD. But it is still nice to see it on regular TV and yes, I will catch it on WGN as well. It would be nice to see it picked up again by another station for a 7th (or more) season.
It would be interesting to hear the “real reason” the show on top was cancelled. But total truth in media is just not there for the most part.
Happy to hear that Last Man Standing is coming back!!!
It isn’t. Read the article, a basic cable channel picked it up for syndication. Big deal.
My family are all huge fans of “Last Man Standing “. We will most definitely watch. We were all so angry when it was cancelled. We signed the petition, and boycotted,..So thank you for bringing them on board. We are loyal fans!
We are thrilled last man is returning. We are huge Tin Allen fans in general. Especially the original cast of last man standing. Way to go WGN.
It’s still cancelled. WGN is just broadcast reruns.
Glad it is not leaving tv. Did not get time to watch on abc because of other shows that I usually watched and usually do not watch comedy but LOVE ❤️ LAST man standing. Watched on Hallmark
Great show!!!!!
Actually, it never left. It’s in syndication on CMT, Hallmark and Hulu and Amazon stream it as well.
Will not pay to get wgn channel just to watch reruns of last man standing love the show can watch it as reruns on cmt already abc messed up big time when they canceled this show was hoping some other network would pick it up for season 7 shame all shows that are family oriented get canceled
WGN is part of basic cable. It isn’t a add on or a premium package.
Absolutely my favorite show of all time just ahead of home improvement so glad to have it back and early Christmas present!
