TNT has released a trailer for the third season return The Last Ship. The action series, based on the novel of William Brinkley, is set to return with a two-hour premiere on June 12th.
Here’s the press release and the trailer:
The Race to Save Humanity Heats Up as TNT’s The Last Ship Returns for Season 3 with Two-Hour Premiere on June 12
The Last Ship Finished Season 2 as One of the Summer’s Top 5 Scripted Series on Basic Cable
The wait is nearly over. TNT’s epic drama The Last Ship – one of last summer’s Top 5 scripted series on basic cable among total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 – is preparing to set sail again in its quest to save humanity after a devastating pandemic with a two-hour premiere this summer. Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Bridget Regan (Agent Carter), Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck), Travis Van Winkle (Heart of Dixie), Marissa Neitling (Leverage) and Jocko Sims (Masters of Sex) star in the high-impact series, which is produced by Platinum Dunes, with its partners – blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay, Brad Full er and Andrew Form – serving as executive producers. Co-creators and showrunners Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine) and Steven Kane (The Closer) are also executive producers, along with executive producers and directors Paul Holahan and Michael Katleman.
Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now, Captain Tom Chandler (series star Eric Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.
Following the epic second-season cliffhanger, the highly anticipated third season finds the crew of the Nathan James shifting their attention to Asia after President Michener hears rumblings that the Chinese leader, President Peng, has been hoarding the “Scott cure” instead of distributing it to the people in the region. Michener sends Chandler to a global summit to investigate this allegation, as well as rumors of a possible mutation of the original virus that has caused a fresh outbreak in Japan. If the mutation has occurred, and Asia has not been protected, the consequences for the world are dire. And with Rachel Scott shot in the season two finale, and her fate as yet unknown, hope is in low supply.
The Last Ship also stars Charles Parnell (Pariah), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Bren Foster (Days of Our Lives) and Kevin Michael Martin.
Fans can catch up with TNT’s The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season, debuting May 3 on Blu-ray and DVD and stacked with hours of bonus content, including exclusive featurettes, behind-the-episode clips, cast interviews and more.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to watching the third season of The Last Ship on TNT?
Love this summer show.

i love the last ship god its a cool show
great show i cant wait for the season to start
Last Ship has been the best Summer TV series I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait when the new season debuts June 12th. Hope Rachel Scott survives and they better not pull a Jon Snow or Peter Quinn like cliffhanger.
What a pleasant surprise! Had read in four different places that this series was over which I totally believed because of the tidy and oh so fun wrap up in the Season finale last year but this is outstanding. LOVE love love this show. Fabulous plot, story lines, character (w/masterful character development, btw!), superior cinematography and effects and terrific, almost perfect casting. One of the best series on TV and I’m a sucker for pro-America story lines of which there are a pitiful, shameful few these days…Excited to see where the team will go now and I hope they keep… Read more »
Glad to see it’s been renewed. Hope they don’t change the story line so much that we don’t recognize the show. Yes, we’ll tune in.
The trailer is okay. Doesn’t include Rachel, though, as a teaser but another woman who might peak Chandler’s interest. Will look at the the first four episodes to determine if change is in the latter direction, If so, will have no interest in this storyline. So many superbly written shows–“Peaky Blinders,” “Game of Thrones,” “Ray Donovan,” “Masters of Sex”–coming soon that one can easily turn her or his attention elsewhere on the TV dial.
so what do u think is going to happened this season
I hope there will be more than just 3 seasons, and I really WANT Tex and his daughter to come back–especially at the notice of Rachel being shot. There is no way they can kill her off—that breaks a CARDINAL RULE OF SUSPENSE —-set down by Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense himself—-as well as losing Tex. You need those characters. June 12th can’t get here fast eniught for me. I have facebook page for John Pyper Ferguson “Tex”. All are welcome. Bring these characters back. And give us a chance to look back at last season. It’s been a… Read more »
The actress who plays Rachel – her name is not in the cast on TNT’s website for the 3rd season. There is a new female cast member being added – so I bet Rachel is going to die. I wonder what will happen to poor Tex? He’s been sweet on her for 2 years…
