NBC and executive producer Dick Wolf have three successful TV dramas based in the windy city (Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med) but they haven’t forgotten about Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The venerable crime drama has been renewed for an 18th season for the 2016-17 season.
Law & Order: SVU follows an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes in New York City. This season, the cast includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Raul Esparza.
Despite being in its 17th season, SVU remains one of NBC’s highest-rated scripted series. It’s currently the network’s fourth-highest rated scripted series with an average of a 1.68 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.18 million viewers.
Wolf has signed a new deal that will keep him with NBC through 2020. The network also renewed Wolf’s Chicago Med today, for a second season.

I still do not like the District Attorney. His first season I did not care for his attitude, but I decided that maybe I would like differently his second season. No I feel that is not the kind of District Attorney the show needs. The actor comes off in cases where he should be helping the detectives and he is fighting them.0
Love the show! So glad it’s back next year. Would love to see more of the rest of the cast as, others have said. But I’ll watch the show every week! It’s a great show. Do miss Stabler though. Wish Ice-T was used more like they use to, but understand with the new baby.
I have convinced 3 new viewers to give the show a try, they all think it is the bests written show on TV and are now avid watchers
I love SVU! I can watch all day, everyday! ! ! I love Olivia and Fin as characters. They need to make Fin into Sgt. Fin.
Love all the law and order shows, especially svu. I love to see them stay on air forever or at least 25 years +
the show has gone from good to barely tolerable.The writers should be fired and the show cancelled.It exploits everything. Not entertainment.Just regurgitated fodder.

Am so very happy SVU has been renewed for season 18. Hope Raul Esparza stays with the show.
There will be a new show runner next year. Warren Leight is leaving. Let’s hope that the other writers pick up the slack left by Warren with some new innovative ideas. Let’s hope that they don’t write out Kelli Giddish or ICE-T like they wrote out Danny Pino last year.
This show has run it’s course and its dead in the water. We’re all sick of it here. We like the Chicago triad. It’s fresh and new. Not stale and overstayed its welcome.
Simple solution for you…CHANGE THE CHANNEL! There are still LOTS of us who LOVE the show and will continue watching it. So if you don’t like it, turn to something else and let the rest of us enjoy our show!
Love this show. Still miss Elliot, though. Benson keeps me watching, however.

Every season all 17 are on HULU.. Its only $8 a month with limit commercials or $13 no commercials. I had to get it. Our area satellite is limited..
Sometimes this show depresses me, but I still keep watching. I like the characters, even with the few that went MIA the last season or so, I DON’T miss Meloni, but I think too much is put on Olivia. They keep putting her through hell & I think it’s a tad over-the-top for her character. In this day and age of here one season, gone the next, it’s good to see this last as long as it has, but let’s divide the attention between ALL characters, not just Olivia (no reflection or offense to Mariska, I like her fine).
