Jordana Brewster has been cast as Dr. Maureen Cahill, in the Lethal Weapon TV series pilot from FOX and WBTV. Brewster joins Damon Wayans, Sr. and Golden Brooks, who were previously cast as Roger Murtaugh and Trish Murtaugh. Brewster played Elena Ramos on TNT‘s reboot of the Dallas TV series, which was cancelled after three seasons, in 2014.
The Lethal Weapon pilot is executive produced by Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin, and Jennifer Gwartz. Miller wrote the pilot script which will be directed by McG.
Brewster’s Lethal Weapon character is described in the FOX press materials as the no-nonsense Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill. Per FOX, Cahill is the LAPD’s hostage negotiator, as well as its in-house therapist. She helps cops deal with their trauma and occasionally gets stuck with a real hard case like Riggs.
The Lethal Weapon pilot is said to remain faithful to the Danny Glover/Mel Gibson film franchise. In the TV adaption Riggs will be a former Navy SEAL and Texas cop.
After his wife and baby die, Riggs moves to LA for a fresh start. He is assigned Detective Murtaugh (Wayans) as his partner. Reportedly, Murtaugh will be recovering from a mild heart attack and has been told to avoid stress, and then here comes Riggs.
What do you think? How do you like the sound of the Lethal Weapon TV show? What do you think of the cast so far? Who should be cast as Riggs?
The idea sounds awesome, and having Jordanna Brewster from fast and furious… well that is a double bonus…
I think so too, Cindy. It’s a little weird the three of us have the same name, though.
I love the idea of a Lethal Weapon series. I think Matt Passmore would make a great Martin Riggs.
Ooh, good call, Cynthia. (And nice name.:)
