It seems Murtaugh isn’t too old for this… The Lethal Weapon TV show has been renewed for a second season on FOX. This television reboot of the Danny Glover and Mel Gibson film franchise stars Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford as Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs, respectively.
A buddy-cop action drama, Lethal Weapon follows two very different cops who are forced to work together on the streets of Los Angeles. The FOX TV series cast also includes Kevin Rahm, Keesha Sharp, Dante Brown, Chandler Kinney, Jordana Brewster, and Johnathan Fernandez.
Currently in its first season, Lethal Weapon is averaging a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 6.630 million viewers. So far, it ranks in the top five of scripted FOX TV show, so the renewal does not come as a surprise.

“LETHAL WEAPON” RENEWED FOR A SECOND SEASON ON FOX
An All-New Episode Airs Tonight on FOX
FOX has ordered a second season of the hit action drama LETHAL WEAPON, it was announced today by David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.
“LETHAL WEAPON continues to fire on all cylinders,” said Madden. “Every week, it delivers a big, fun rollercoaster ride, but also remains touchingly human and genuinely emotional, and that’s due to the chemistry that’s developed not only between Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, but the entire cast. We want to thank our producing partners, Warner Bros., as well as Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz, who have done a fantastic job in crafting a series for which a second-season order is well deserved.”
LETHAL WEAPON delivers a total Multi-Platform average audience of 11 million viewers and ranks among the Top 5 new series this season.
In tonight’s all-new episode, “Unnecessary Roughness,” airing 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT, on FOX, a murder involving a high school football phenomenon draws Riggs (Clayne Crawford) and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) into the lucrative – and corrupt – world of college recruiting. Meanwhile, Murtaugh considers a big change in his professional life, and Riggs contemplates an even bigger shift in his personal life, as he spends more time with DEA Agent Karen Palmer (guest star Hilarie Burton).
Combining action and drama with ride-or-die friendship and humor, LETHAL WEAPON reimagines the hit movie franchise, as it follows classic cop duo Riggs (Clayne Crawford, “Rectify”) and Murtaugh (Emmy Award nominee Damon Wayans, “My Wife and Kids,” “In Living Color”), who work a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. Grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective MARTIN RIGGS moves to California to “start over” at the LAPD. He’s paired up with ROGER MURTAUGH, who’s just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh’s prudent, by-the-book technique. One has everything to live for, the other has nothing to lose.
LETHAL WEAPON is a production of Warner Bros. Television in association with Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions. Matt Miller (“Forever,” “The 100”), Dan Lin (“The LEGO Movie,” “Sherlock Holmes”), Jennifer Gwartz (“Forever,” “Veronica Mars”) and McG (“The Mysteries of Laura,” “The O.C.,” “Charlie’s Angels”) serve as executive producers. The pilot was written by Miller and directed by McG. “Like” LETHAL WEAPON on Facebook at facebook.com/LethalWeaponFOX/. What do you think? Are you glad Lethal Weapon was renewed for season two? How would you feel if FOX had cancelled this TV show, instead?
Please keep the show..it is one of the most entertaining shows on TV now. It is funny and serious all rolled into one.
Great decision, has a lot of potential to explore things the films skipped over
I Love this Series and can’t wait for it to return!!! One of my favorites!
You got me stuck, please do not cancel . I have not enjoyed a show this much since forever. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
Glad it was renewed but when do new episodes air. This is the first week May and I haven’t seen a new episode in some time now. Are they still on Wednesdays at 8 pm?
Heck yeah I’m so glad you renewed “Lethal Weapon”!!!!! I love it. Murtaugh and Riggs are not only cops but comedians too. 😉 Thanks for renewing it.
Lethal Weapon is a great show. So glad it has been renewed for 2nd season.
I am looking forward to watch the show weekly. Decent story with a bit of real life & drama. I am glad it will go to 2nd season…and more?
Glad to see another season..I love this show the producers or whom ever made very good choices in characters and the story line is awesome to be kept with movie…Please hopefully have many more seasons
I think the show was heading in a good direction once we got passed the acceptance of his wife’s death.
Very glad it has been renewed.. please do nt cancel. Too much fun to watch.
I watched all of season 1…I loved it …looking forward to season 2
Thoroughly enjoy each & every show and we’re in the 70’s age bracket & watched all the Leathal Weapon movies (enjoyed them, too) but the new TV show breathes new life into an already loved venue. We look forward to each new show & tape it if have to be away. Understand Riggs reasonings in his terrible loss and the chemistry between him and Murtaugh (serious & funny)& his family are priceless. Seems every time a decent show comes around, it’s shot down before giving it a good chance! Hope the second season gets to be completed, followed by many… Read more »
I love the series but I wish they would not change the storyline. For example Riggs wifes name was Vicki not Miranda, and in Lethal Weapon II he found out that his she was murdered by Pieter Vorstedt, who put a bomb in their car.
In order for me to enjoy it I have to disassociate it from the original movie.
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. Great acting on the entire cast. Hilarious and heartbreaking in the same episodes. So happy it will return. Thanks Fox.
