Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.

Found this show on Netflix.. and it is so amazing really bummed there isn’t anymore episodes. Bring the show back !!
If I would have known about the show when it was aired I would have watched it. Now that it is on Netflix I know of the show. I wish they could bring it back and make it known this time. I believe the reason the show didn’t catch is because there were very many people aware of it

I can’t believe they didn’t have ‘enough’ viewers, maybe if u publicized it more u would have more viewers FOX. It’s a real buzzkill they didn’t keep going with this show it was really intriguing! If it was brought back in 2016 I am sure many more people would watch it after seeing it on Netflix.
so true!! timing was terrible. I loved it on Fox but only got to see a few episodes. Thanks to Netflix (which I treasure more than regular TV) I was able to watch all 3 seasons TWICE.
They definitely should do season 4. The show is really interesting and the cast is good. We want to see Gillian and Cal end up together, so yeah, disappointed at fox for cancelling a great show.
Thos was a great show!!! Tim Roth was awesone I can’t picture anyone else Being Cal Lightman. I watched it when it was on Facial Expressions is a very interesting science. I just watched all 3 seasons again on Netflix. That last scene with Cal and Em left me wanting so much more …… Bring it Back with Original Cast

The attraction of season 1 was an abundance of the actual science behind micro-expressions, which dwindled in season 2 and came down to a single shot of celebrities with a matching expression in most episodes of season 3. That and the tension between Gill Forrester and Lightman were largely absent.
Bring those two elements back in full force, and you’ll have a great season 4. Otherwise leave it dead. Season 3 was terrible.
Bring it back as a Netflix show. It will be hit!
Yes, I wish it was still on. Found it on Netflix and have watched series twice. Please renew I wish I knew it was on before.
Maybe do what most good shows do now-adays, instead of doing a sitcom on Fox, etc, do a straight to netflix/hulu series? Bet a lot of people would watch

MAKE MORE EPISODES…….this was “the” TV show that got me watching television again, I had all but given up on TV. IF THIS SHOW IS NOT CONTINUED, I am finished with television altogether.
