It looks like This Life is ending. Recently, it was announced the CBC has cancelled the TV show after two seasons.
The Canadian drama centers on Natalie Lawson (Torri Higginson), “a lifestyle columnist and single mother in her early forties whose terminal cancer diagnosis sends her on a quest to help her three teenage children get ready for the future, while trying her best to live in the now.” The cast also includes Lauren Lee Smith, Rick Roberts, Kristopher Turner, James Wotherspoon, and Stephanie Janusauskas. Season two of the series finished airing this past December.
On the show’s official Facebook page, it was revealed that This Life will not be returning for a third season:
CBC has not yet released a comment on the show’s cancellation.
What do you think? Have you seen This Life? Are you sad it’s over?
I as an American stream this show. I watched one episode s1 episode 1 and I was glued to the screen. What an Awesome story line and just when I lost my husband and mama within three weeks of each other with cancer. Believe me; this show helped with my pain during that time, how you ask? It gave me hope, it showed me how to plan ahead and even when all looks like life is doomed, it showed me life will go on. The pain will always be there but showed me strength and courage to go on. Unfortunately I’m am American. Lol. I’m killing to see it. Dose anyone now how I can stream or buy this life on DVD
O no really? It is canceled? Why, why? I am so disappointed. I am so hooked to this show. Please re-consider to continue. So great group of very talented actors. So great story.
cbc doesn’t seem to know when they have a good show – I loved this life – it reminds me when they cancelled this is wonderland – both great shows
Too bad, this is one of the better shows. Please extend it. No reason to cancel, it is too good to lose.
I think the acting in this series was incredible and the story lines were very engaging, So disappointed that it so t be back. Also. Have not seen any of the actors in. THis life in any other cbc shows. Such a pool of tralented people,
Love this series. Can’t understand why it would be cancelled. Sure leaves us hanging for the outcome.
I was wondering when This Life was going to return, so I checked the Internet today only to find out it’s been cancelled. How disappointing. I discovered the show by accident during season two, and after just one episode I was hooked. I ended up following it through to the end of the season. I really liked the characters and their story lines. And I thought it was beautifully shot in Montreal. It really is perplexing and frustrating how what I think is good TV doesn’t survive against so much of the garbage that is competing for air time.
And just think what the bulk of the crap thats on. This is what the good stuff is up against… mind numbing list: Reality shows…(now what are those people that are paid to look ridiculous on tv called again….oh yeah…actors!). The only thing real is their pay checks. Soap shows (slow trainwreck every day for decades). If you miss a year you can catch up on the next episode. Game shows (appeals to the bingo people of the world…i guess) Sports (which are just games most cant do, so they watch others do and with a beer for that macho… Read more »
I agree with most previous comments and am sad that the series is not returning. I found it both intelligent and interesting as a portrait of a family under stress. Also the setting was well chosen. I am a newcomer to Canada who loves Montreal and especially enjoyed that it was set in the part of the city where I am fortunate to live, Notre Dame de Grâce. Please think again, CBC!
Yes. It was actually one of the good canadian shows. Kind of figures though. Its like we cant be too good or have something too good these days. I guess if its not a kind of comedy it wont survive. And with US programing that have all but crashed over the rail with varying levels of crap that leaves us with even less to watch. Doesnt it make you wonder who is actually getting paid to make these decisions? And who is actually listening to them? Well there is always british tv…for now. Perhaps this is the beginning of the… Read more »
I was so looking forward to the return of the trials and tribulations of this family drama.
It was such a caring and real series that hit very close to home for my family.
So sad to not know how Natalie will handle things.
So disappointed to learn this week that
This Life has been cancelled. Agree with all previous comments.
It was a ‘must see’ in our household.
For shame, it was a quality contemporary Canadian drama which CBC failed to promote to the same degree as the limp “Schitts’ Creek” and the mouldy “Murdoch Mysteries”. Perhaps another network will pick it up, or perhaps viewers will have to wait five years a la “Michael Every Day” for CBC to pick it up again.
And the CBC wonders why viewers have left them in droves…..inept management decisions like the cancelling of home grown well made shows like This Life.
I looked forward to seeing This Life every week. So proud that it was a Canadian show. The storylines were realistic and the acting was heartfelt. I am disappointed to see the show has been cancelled.
Another good show bites the dust.
