Another cancelled TV show has been resurrected by Netflix. The streaming service has ordered a fourth season of Longmire, the dramatic series that A&E dropped earlier this year. The 10 new episodes will debut sometime next year.
Here’s their press release:
NETFLIX ORDERS FOURTH SEASON OF LONGMIRE
Rousing Western Thriller from Warner Horizon Television to Premiere Exclusively in US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
Series To Return for 10 New Episodes in 2015
Beverly Hills, Calif., November 19, 2014– Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, has ordered a fourth season of the hit drama Longmire, from Warner Horizon Television. Ten new episodes of the series will premiere exclusively in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 2015.
“When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire’s story for his large and passionate following,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.
In a joint statement, the Longmire executive producers said: “We’re excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring this show that we love so much, and all its devoted fans, to Netflix.”
Season four of Longmire picks up moments after season three’s exciting finale. Walt Longmire (series star Robert Taylor), having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice.
Longmire, the contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country, is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson. The series stars Australian actor Robert Taylor (The Matrix) as Walt Longmire, the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, along with Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick), Lou Diamond Phillips (Southland, La Bamba), Bailey Chase (Damages), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville) and Adam Bartley (Justified).
Longmire is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television. Hunt Baldwin (The Closer, Trust Me), John Coveny (The Closer, Trust Me), Greer Shephard (The Closer, Major Crimes, Nip/Tuck) and Michael M. Robin (The Closer, Major Crimes, Nip/Tuck) serve as executive producers.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing the fourth season of Longmire? Are you already a subscriber? If not, will you subscribe to see the new episodes?
Can’t wait for the new Longmire. My favorite show of all time. Come on Walt!!
It seems like every time I start watching a good series they cancel it… Get with it… Why don’t you send out a poll to find out how many people like it. Get rid of duck dynasty, the kardashings. No one cares to follow people around!
Does anyone know when Netflix will start show n Longmire love this show ! A lot ppl didn’t even know about it !needed more advertising to keep this on. A/E s loss I’m. Switch over to Netflix. Good by. A/E. Joan
A&E…..why keep mindless reality crap and cancel a SPECTACULAR SHOW like Longmire, please bring Longmire back !! We cant afford netflix and my mother has no way to watch it.There aren’t enough good shows on tv anymore.
I agree. Let’s keep on mayb will come back on
My husband really enjoyed watching Longmire. It was very entertaining . We hope another network picks it up.
Like everyone else on here, I couldn’t believe A&E cancelled this show due to a lack of sponsorship. I have cancelled my Netflix twice, but I’ll be turning my subscription back on to watch Longmire. I am in my THIRTIES and I don’t even like “cowboy” shows, but my husband and I loved this show. It’s sad that a network that used to be one of the better ones out there is now only shows like Duck Dynasty. Longmire was the only reason I had tuned into A&E in several years, and I will skip right over it again, like… Read more »
Recently canceled my Netflix subscription. I will be renewing it now that I know they have picked up Longmire for a fourth season. One of the best shows on TV and A&E cancels it in favor of more stupid reality shows. Thank you Netflix !
Can not believe A. & E. Could or. Would Cancel. Such a good show Why. ??When get good show on I love this show. Great show and I m usually not fan of Cowboy show s. But this one is so good .I’m hooked , I ha been look n every week to see. She it’s start s. Up again . Your loss. A & E. Good By.
it’s bull that people noe have to pay extra money a month just to watch a good series. most people like me cant afford more monthly bills. & as good as the ratings of this show it baffles me another local network like use or fx r even cbs nbc ect. wouldnt pick it back up
Love Longmire….
Didn’t at first, have to admit. Now my husband, (loves it), myself, many friends….really enjoy the show. Keep them coming.
Thank you….
Been a long time NETFLIX customer and very happy to get LONGMIRE back. One day A&E and the rest of networks will be no longer. I pay way to much to get shows canceled due to networks saying that they will not cater to older viewers. I’m going to cancel my cable service and just watch Netflix and local channels. GOOD JOB NETFLIX and SAMSUNG for smart televisions.
I am a Longmire fan. It is consistently excellent television and yes I personally know of 10 families that either have let their netflix subscriptions lapse or they never had one that are planning to sign up to see the new Longmire season
I am keeping mine active for the same reason.
A&E…..what a bunch of morons. they keep mindless reality crap like duck dynasty and cancel a SPECTACULAR SHOW in LONGMIRE. huge “hats off” to NETFLIX for recognizing this series and its outstanding cast. NOTE TO A&E…….no need to worry about ratings, you just stepped off the cliff. my guess is…….a serious number of loyal fans to the LONGMIRE show and to Craig Johnson will tune A&E to black. so looking forward to season four. LONG LIVE LONGMIRE !!
I want to see the 2015 series. R. Senecal.
Incredible show! Lots of fans…and more to come! Glad Netflix has the smarts to pick up Longmire and allow it to continue!
