A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Love this show. ..one of my favs!!!
Awesome show
Love this show!
Love this show! Please do not cancel. The best element is the bad guy with a big heart!
It is hilarious! Keep!
I would definitely keep it. Love the show and the lead actor. We can’t wait to watch it each week. Great bits of humor!
Love this show! Keep it!
I love the show. Please keep it. I got all my friends watching and I’m firm believer in Jesus Christ. What this tells me is; you never know who you will meet in lifes jouney, so you better know the word and stay prayed up.
Please keep it love the show!
Keep Lucifer, it is great to watch. If you don’t like it then don’t watch it, but stop trying to ruin everyone else viewing pleasure. The same people who whine about Lucifer are probably the same ones who kept moronic shows like South Park on for years.
I love the show watched from the begining and have not missed one !!! Keep them coming
keep the show.. its getting quite interesting
KEEP IT ON PLEASE!! I LOVE this show!! I rarely watch new series, but got hooked on this show! I love the characters. Its really funny with a lot of depth as well! All I got to say to all the religion nuts out there is this show has made me think about God and the bible more than I have in years and in a really good way!!!!
Please keep the show!! I like it a lot! Its very funny, mysterious and different from anything I’ve seen! At first I was skeptical but after the first 2 episodes i knew it was good!! For all you individuals that see it as bad, give it a try…. you’d be surprised, it has a twist and is not at all demonic or anything towards worshiping the devil. It’s actually quite the opposite …
keep the show on….its great!!
