When Lucifer premiered in early 2016, many people wanted the show to be cancelled before they even saw it, at least in part because of the subject matter. While the show’s ratings weren’t great, they were good enough for the FOX series to be renewed. Will it do well enough to get a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Following a brutal murder outside of his nightclub, he starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). In season two, Lucifer and his brother (D. B. Woodside) team up to find their mother (Tricia Helfer) who recently escaped from Hell. The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/13 update: FOX has renewed Lucifer for a third season. Details here.
5/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Lucifer averaged a 1.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.56 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Don’t stop the show! We from Bulgaria our small country love the show. It’s really good don’t do this. Don’t make us feel sad…The show is like the food for the soul!
yeah!!!!!! plz plz plz plz dont cancel the show. i love it so much, me and alot of my friends/ family watch it
Ok i understand how important is have your open mind.
But this series a little too much…they are trying put like good a character that´s really evil that would want the ruin of everything. i don´t understand how some fans can worship this series. I´m ok with them, the only thing that i have against them is how they laugh of something that should to be respectful, the faith of millions of people. i think that with two seasons are enough.
I don’t think you understand the concept. This isn’t the biblical Lucifer(though, I must admit, the show is waxing more biblical lately). This is a DC Comics character created by author Neil Gaiman. This has very little to do with Christianity, as there is no Jesus. The fact this Lucifer has a mother should be enough to convince people it’s not THE devil they’ve been programmed to fear. Now, the DC Lucifer has power that makes this guy look like a bargain Derrin Brown. But, there’s only so much you can do on a TV budget. Comics Luci has power… Read more »
And even if the show was about Christianity, what’s the problem with we laughing about something we do not believe? I don’t believe in gods, I don’t believe in demons, for me is just another story, and this story can be funny, of course…
Mate clearly you haven’t been paying attention in the last 2 seasons because honestly, you don’t seem to have grasped the plot even after watching a whole 22 episodes of this series.
I myself am Christian and I don’t know what the problem is, the series doesn’t even have any similarities to the Bible or our religion (save for the names). So stop whining about how they’re disrespectful or what not and stop involving the “millions of people”, which I am assuming are Christians or Catholic into your own rant.
My favourite show. Should go on for many more seasons! What would my week be without it???
I and so many people love this show please don’t cancel
Happy Birthday Tom!!! Hope it’s a great one for you.
I being completely honest here. I fall into the group that hated the show before I even saw it because of the subject matter. But… I try to be open-minded as well. Halfway through season one I decided to watch the first episode on demand. Needless to say, here I am leaving this comment pleading for the show not to end. This is a great example of why it’s good not to judge and to keep an open mind. If I didn’t, I would never have caught this Gem of a show.
I’ve only just come across this series and I’m hooked, watched all of them on Amazon Fire TV! I don’t want it to end, please Fox, Renew it for the 3rd season, and more, keep this going!
I’m really fed up with all the shows I like getting cancelled! Don’t let this be another one!
I can’t go without my fix of Lucifer, and the gorgeous Tom Ellis
