When Lucifer premiered in early 2016, many people wanted the show to be cancelled before they even saw it, at least in part because of the subject matter. While the show’s ratings weren’t great, they were good enough for the FOX series to be renewed. Will it do well enough to get a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Following a brutal murder outside of his nightclub, he starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). In season two, Lucifer and his brother (D. B. Woodside) team up to find their mother (Tricia Helfer) who recently escaped from Hell. The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/13 update: FOX has renewed Lucifer for a third season. Details here.
5/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Lucifer averaged a 1.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.56 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Lucifer is like super amazing. I would just lose it if they don’t release a 3rd season. They have to.
I love this show this literally is the best ever it connects with me and everything I would literally die if this show got canceled so plz don’t… I watched all 2 seasons in 2 days I love it lol
Amazing show. So excited for a 3rd season.
They need to make another season this show is amazing
I love this show and it should be renewed at least enough to where detective decker sees lucifer for who he really is and fall in love
The is funny and has a great story i think it should be renewed
We need another season!!
Seriously, why wait till May! ??? I looked forward to seeing Lucifer on Monday’s! Fox needs to get with the program.
The waiting for May is Ludicrous and when it does come to the due date if they do a horrible job with the final episode of season 2 it will probably be the worst mistake the fox network has done this year. I have very religious family members that honestly love the show.
i love the show. moreeee seasssooonn.
Renew.
Snappy, at times sophisticated, and always entertaining.
Fox has made our life hell by making us wait till may. What on earth Fox was thinking?
I love lucifer showwww!!! I think they should make moreeeee season
It’s a great television show, It’s a new angle on the old devil. Tom plays the character very well, very straight yet somewhat comical. I wasn’t sure whether the show would be for me, but I’ve enjoyed both seasons so far. Would be nice to see what happens in the future so a Season 3 would be wonderful. One doesn’t watch too much television, this is another good series from America. If you haven’t seen it I would recommend it. If you have the time Burn Notice was also very good – an ex-agent who needs to make ends meet,… Read more »
