Though its viewership has been quite small, Manahattan has been renewed for a second season on WGN America. The period TV show’s first season finale airs this Sunday night.
Set in 1943, Manhattan follows the residents of a secret town of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Hidden away by the federal government, scientists live there with their families while they work to build the world’s first atomic bomb. The cast includes John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, Alexia Fast, Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Daniel Stern, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Harry Lloyd, Michael Chernus, Eddie Shin, Daniel London, and Mark Moses.
The 11 episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 420,000 viewers. The cable channel is still very new to producing their own scripted series so likely has low expectations at this point.
What do you think? Do you like the Manhattan TV show? Do you plan to watch season two?
Looking forward to season 2. I am hoping to see more on the Hanford plutonium production as I am currently an employee on the Hanford site. Interesting stuff!!
I’m waiting anxiously for the story to continue. I grew up in Los Alamos so I do have a familiarity with the story…:-)
It is great that you are doing a 2nd season it is a fine story line. Mu husband and I plan to watch the new series.
I was born and raised in Oak Ridge TN, also known as the Atomic City. Both my parents worked at the X-10 site, but not during the time that the Atomic bomb was made. When I was little I remember hearing the sirens go off in the City. If I was out playing somewhere, I would always know what time it was because they had would blow the sirens when it was time for the workers at X-10 and Y-12 to go home for the day. I LOVE this show and the cast and cannot wait till season 2 starts.… Read more »
Hope this show will have a season two. We look forward to it.
This is a great series. Please keep it going. It is the highlight of the week. The cast is superb. When we started watching it we did not know what to expect, what a surprise!
You have captured the era.
Quality adult tv dramas are few and far between. PLEASE let us know when the second season of Manhattan will air. We are hoping.
My wife and I really liked season 1 and are anxiously awaiting season 2. Our favorite character is Frank Winter and he was being driven off to jail at the end of season 1. I hope he will be returning.
Like everyone else who responded I loved the show. I do wish the storylines could incorporate more of the actual science involved, (kind of irritating actually) in the design problems of the building and testing. I do, however, love the fact that all the characters are completely made up with no actual counterparts from the project. That has allowed the storylines to be quite interesting. I watch the show via HULU which allows me to pause the show when needed and to re-watch the show whenever I want.
Cannot wait for season 2.
Love it wish they’d hurry back I watch it on hulu over and over
Manhattan season 1 was terrific. I can’t wait for season 2. I watched it on HULU based on the good feedback the series seemed to generate. I learned more about how and where they built the bomb in the 1st episode than I learned in my first 55 years of life. Fascinating. My wife of 35 years deceased father was sent across the pacific in the 3rd division Marines from one hellhole to the other. He was in the initial landing group at Iwo Jima. He was most likely headed for a ground attack on mainland Japan which he almost… Read more »
Alas David…while NM might look like a hot barren desert in the series, Los Alamos itself is at 7,300 ft and, at least today (LOL), is considered (despite horrific fires) being in pine country. Search Google images for example. Temp wise, some might consider it ideal http://tinyurl.com/nktln5t especially without the suffering humidity (most of the time). Say, come on out and be a grand tourist…see my Jan 3 comment with links. I image NM as a geode…often ugly on the outside, but when you explore its “innards” you will find bedazzling beauty leading it to being called The Land of… Read more »
I am glad to hear Mahattan has been renewed, it is a great series, the whole family loves it
Can’t get WGN for the coming season? http://tinyurl.com/q8aczpj and let your cable provider know!!!!
Want to watch last, Season I? http://www.hulu.com/manhattan
Don’t forget lest ya missed it http://tinyurl.com/lty927y (approximate).
I am glad to find out that Manhattan is getting another season. I binged it more than once..and I could have easily just sat there and rerun the series forever…the problem on this right coast is that our provider( I plan on filing a complaint !!) dropped that particular channel from the lineup. Possibly, I can find it elsewhere in the lineup. I certainly hope so. I also binged on the Salem series as well. I think a little more crossover advertising of the series would help.
I keep searching for the new episodes. I have watched Season 1 too many times to count. This is a great series!
