Though the series has declined in the ratings over the years, Medium’s always been a decent mid-season performer for the peacock network. Considering the state of NBC’s overall schedule, you’d think they’d be glad to have it back.
But, because of today’s economics and the network’s decision to schedule Jay Leno’s new show five nights a week, NBC cancelled Medium earlier this week.
Fortunately for fans of the show, CBS has decided to scoop it up. The network’s sister production company produces the show and makes a boatload of money from it in syndication. Bringing Medium back for more network episodes means that there will be more installments for the syndication package.
The show is also filling a problem spot on CBS’ Friday night schedule. The network hasn’t had much luck finding a strong, compatible show to fill the timeslot between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs. Medium, which combines elements of paranormal, family and crime drama, seems like a natural fit.
Interestingly, both Medium and Ghost Whisperer debuted the same year but on different networks. The two have frequently been compared and pitted against one another. Who would have guessed they’d end up on the same network, working together?

Soooooo glad to hear medium will continue thanks for picking it up very intertaining show
NBC has lost it’s mind…If it still has one!!!The Medium is great!!!At least CBS recognizes a quality show …good story line & great acting…The kind of show people watch…Go Allison !!!
THANK GOD CBS HAS HAD THE GOOD SENSE TO SAVE MEDIUM. Next to “House,” it is THE BEST SHOW on TV. And Medium still has so many stories to tell. Patricia Arquette is superb, and the rest of the cast is phenomenal. THANK YOU CBS!!!
So glad that at least CBS cares about its viewers unlike
NBC which also cancelled Lipstick Jungle.
We can’t even stand those mindless reality shows.
THANKS CBS!
Please don’t cancel the show.I’ve been watching it ever since it started its a good family show. Me and my husband watches it together ..Thank you CBS for picking the show up.I really enjoy the show .Thank you again .Why do they always take off the good shows and put those on that aren’t so good ?..Please CBS keep this show going.THANK YOU
I didn’t realize that Medium was cancelled and my husband kept telling me that the episode coming up was the “finale”. With all the terrible shows on the air, you would think they would want to keep a decent ratings performer. I am so thankful that CBS picked it up. A lot of the other shows I like are on CBS too (I love Ghost Whisperer too).
There are few shows I ever watch and the Medium is one of the 3 shows I watch regularly. I am really upset to hear NBC has cancelled this. What’s wrong with them? Most of thier shows are terrible
So glad Medium has been saved! One of my favorite shows, I would have been sad to see it go. Does NBC have any decent shows besides Law and Order anymore?
I did not realize NBC had canceled Medium till I just saw the promo for the “Finale”–not “Season Finale”–and went on the web. What a relief that CBS has picked up the show. Medium is one of the most entertaining shows on the air and it will be perfect between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs, maybe even get the robust ratings it deserves.
Dear CBS,
Thank you for saving Medium. I have enjoyed this show since it’s inception. I am already committed to Ghost Whisper on Friday nights and it is great to know that quality TV will just continue on the same network. With Jay Leno on 5 nights a week in Prime time I have a feeling I will be turning to CBS alot for my TV viewing.
Very glad to hear Medium is coming back in the fall. NBC was stupid to give the show up and stupid to only air the episodes for 1/2 a season. I don’t watch Leno now, so very, very doubtful I will watch him 5 nights a week in primetime. Wouldn’t be surprised to see NBC go under very soon!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for saving medium I love this show
To CBS – thank you for having the good sense to save “Medium,” a show that provides quality entertainment in each episode. My Friday nights will be spent watching CBS this fall. To NBC – someone at the Peacock network needs to rethink its approach to primetime programming. While I’m glad Jay Leno will remain, I think 5 nights per week of a primetime talk show is probably 3-4 nights too much. At least my favorite drama, “Medium,” will be be back next year, so I’m happy about that.
Good job CBS! You’ve gained one more viewer for Friday nights, and I will never in a hundred years watch Leno. Not that I think he’ll last even a single one after bankrupting the network for real programming. Kudos to CBS this time around.
Yeah for Medium!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boo for Leno being on 5 NIGHTS A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
