Fans of TNT’s Men of a Certain Age were understandably a little confused by last night’s finale. Early last year, the cable channel renewed the TV show for 10 more episodes. Soon after season two began in early December, TNT started promoting the season finale after just six episodes. What happened?
Well, there’s good news. Men of a Certain Age has not been cancelled. TNT decided to increase the episode order to 12 installments and has broken the season up into two parts. A start date for the next half dozen episodes hasn’t been set yet but they’ll probably be released in the summer.
Men of a Certain Age follows three male friends as they adjust to the realities of middle age. It stars Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear the show will be back with more episodes? Do you think breaking up the season like this is good or bad for the ratings?
I’m tired of networks horse*&%& and never letting people know what is going on with shows that they watch. When people stop supporting their advertisers, then they will have to start treating people with a little appreciation. I have been doing this for a while now. Now if everyone else would eventually abide, we as watchers would not have to put up with this crap.
We love the show… the real life is great and how to deal with every aspect. With elder parents and how to handle their lived and colon/show.. was just a real life that we laughed so hard our sides hurt.. tears rolling down our face.. love to laugh… How people deal with good and bad news… pls leave it on the air. We love it and have even watched it with out kids and they laugh saying that is how you deal with grandma and granddaddy. just a great show…
I don’t know if it’ll be good or bad for the ratings, but I must say I really love this show. And really I don’t understand much how ratings work but I want a 3rd season!!!
How does any show survive with only 12 new episodes a year? I love this show, but there’s 52 weeks in a year. That means 3 month’s of a great show and 8 months of re-runs or absolutely nothing. No wonder people watch so much reality TV. At least it’s new every week.
Make that 9 months of nothing. Sorry. Rainman I am not. Definitely, definitely 9.
I love this quality show. I am very glad to know it has not been cancelled but I, too, wish it had a regular schedule.
Love that it’s back. Hate that the “season” seems to have no logical reason.
I really enjoy this show. The actors, characters and storylines are great but I too feel unsure of what is going on with the scheduling. I am relieved to know it hasn’t been cancelled, but feel this first-rate production is being treated like a last minute fill-in when convenient. “Men of a Certain Age” deserves better.
For the last couple of Mondays I tuned into TNT, and NO show. I finally went to the web to find out what happened. I was concerned that the show had been cancelled. I think the loyal fans will follow up, like I did. But, I will say…only a loyal fan (with some extra time) will go on-line to find out, it’s asking a lot, but this show is worth the effort. I hope others will do the same. …Ray needs to get out there and let the fans know what’s up.
I too love this show. And while I am very glad it has not been cancelled I DO NOT understand the need to break up the episodes. Disconcerting and annoying. My guess is that a lot of viewers will just assume it is off the air which will not help the ratings.
My husband and I really enjoy this show. Everytime a quality show comes around, some knitwit screws with the programming and suddenly the show disappears. Perhaps you should go play your video games and leave the programming to the adults!! So glad it wasn’t cancelled.
I love this show but it needs to stay out there to get noticed. It’s a good thing I have my T-VO set to recored every new episode or I would never know when it was on.
Each episode was better than the last (a colonoscopy weekend getaway? Genius!) and who knows what has taken it’s slot. Excellent show, bad programming management.
I am very happy that Men of a Certain Age has not been cancelled.
Breaking up seasons didn’t heart Saving Grace; Big Love or Dexter.
Poor advertising…at least with the Sopranos, you knew when it started and when it ended and when it would start up again before it even started. Here, a great show, is poorly promoted, and I was looking for a seventh episode and it did not come, nor did I here there was a spliting of the year. If I had not tripped up on this, I would not be looking at tnt enough to probably find out it starts in the summer. Blowing a great show. You watch how much your audience drops…oh I will still wait to watch, but… Read more »
I absolutely Love this Show!!!! I love Ray from everything he does, Scott from Quantum Leap and other shows, and recently loved Andre’s work with House. So happy they didn’t cancel show!!!
