Fans of TNT’s Men of a Certain Age were understandably a little confused by last night’s finale. Early last year, the cable channel renewed the TV show for 10 more episodes. Soon after season two began in early December, TNT started promoting the season finale after just six episodes. What happened?
Well, there’s good news. Men of a Certain Age has not been cancelled. TNT decided to increase the episode order to 12 installments and has broken the season up into two parts. A start date for the next half dozen episodes hasn’t been set yet but they’ll probably be released in the summer.
Men of a Certain Age follows three male friends as they adjust to the realities of middle age. It stars Ray Romano, Scott Bakula, and Andre Braugher.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear the show will be back with more episodes? Do you think breaking up the season like this is good or bad for the ratings?
My husband & I love the show. We are baby boomers and can relate. I used to live in L.A. so it holds a certain nostalgia for me as well. We have been doing program searches trying to see if it got rescheduled to a new time or day. Happy to hear it is coming back, but had no idea it was going on hiatus. Hope the restart is well advertised so we don’t miss it.
Stupid dividing the show and having to wait so long. they should have gone with the 10 eps. and renew with 12 for a third season. They are only managing to alienate the audience. I don’t think these tv execs know their ar*es from a hole in the ground
I’m so happy the show hasn’t been cancelled. I love the show and although I could never remember when it was on, I always watched it On Demand. Looking forward to seeing it again whenever it’s back on.
My husband and I were so disappointed to hear that it might be cancelled. This is good news and we are looking forward to the new episodes. There aren’t many programs like this (no laugh track, no stretch for a laugh, silly dialogue). We love the thought provoking incidents. Please, do something for those of us who want meat instead of fluff. Keep the show alive.
I LOVE this show. I’m a 31 yr old female and I am addicted. I thought it was cancelled bc I haven’t seen it on my DVR lately and when I did a search it was nowhere! Googled and voila! Nice to know it’s still goin to be around but please hurry back on!! I need a real from my rom-com drama tv!!!
I had no idea there was a finale. I’ve been tuning in every week to see if it would air. I don’t think breaking up the season is good because people have short attention spans and with such long intervals, you forget what was happening and its harder to get reinvested in the characters and story lines.
Glad to hear the show was not canceled, but I must say that, all of these short season shows coming and going on TNT, USA, TBS etc. gets very confusing. I never know when they are on, when they are leaving or when they are coming back. They are some of my favorite shows but I have missed many shows because I didn’t know they were back on. It seems to me that they could be scheduled in a more consistent way so that viewers can know when to expect them. I used to watch Monk on USA. It was… Read more »
I think this show is great and should go on for more than just six more episodes!
Love the show.. Glad it hasn’t been cancelled. Being 60, it is like a look at yesterday and being able to relate to many of the feeling and emotions that are being played out on the screen.. Looking forward to more great episodes..
This is a fantastic show. I enjoy seeing the humor used to help us laugh at ourselves. Can’t wait for it to start again.

2 thumbs up! A Great show. Maybe because I can relate to it, I’m 55
But there are a lot of baby boomers who must really enjoy this show and
not just men. Every time I’m watching the show my wife is intrigued.
I am really glad it hasn’t been canceled; I like it
Love this show! And I agree with the other woman about how nice it is to be a female fly on the wall and hear things from the man’s prospective. Casting, writing, delivery, subject matter are all excellent. Yes a few more laughs would be nice but life doesn’t seem to have as many laughs when you get to a certain age anyway. Truly hope they continue with this show BUT NOT broken up. I was watching an episode for Halloween right after New Years. The powers that be at TNT need to schedule the full series as a full… Read more »
