At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I’m so sorry to hear the Mercy’s being canceled. What has to happen to be kept on these daze? It would have beeen nice to have last show that least wound everything up. BOO to NBC CC
Nothing worse then watching a show every Wednesday night and can’t wait for the next year to see what is going to happen just to find out it was cancelled. And yes, the advertisement for the show was NOT there. It kept me waiting every week for the next show. I think its a shame that NBC doesn’t at least give an ending.
Boo. I am so sad that they didn’t give this show another chance, I was so looking forward to seeing what happened next season!
Unbelievable!! This is the only show I looked forward to weekly!!!
What a great show, feeling the main characters, pleasures and problems,
instead of “DARK TRAUMA in EM room” World is in such a dark place now
It was great watching “hospital staff” having a Real life! Felt part of the series!!!!!
I think it stinks that you didn’t atleast wrap up the series before cancelling. I think thats the least you can do for the loyal watchers that enjoyed the series…shame on you….
Great show!! So sad it was canceled, watched it each week, now we’ll never know what happened to each character 🙁
Please bring it back!!!! best show!!!!!
I never missed an episode! This was a super show, well written, thoughtful and energetic…hopefully some other network will pick it up!
NBC – You Suck!!! How can you cancel this great show? The way you left it, you really should put something together to at least tell us what happened!
Maybe another station will be willing to pick it up . My husband and I always watched this show and just loved the characters.
Then we also hear that you’ve canceled Trauma too…..now you really suck! Shame on you for not giving it another chance
This show looked at the medical field from a different perspective that most of the other medical shows. My family really enjoyed it and I hope another network will pick it up.
its called better advertising. don’t keep cutting good shows with great story lines on the count that you can’t get your advertising team to do their job
I am so bummed it got cancelled!! I hope another network can pick it up. I absolutely loved the show. And that was no ending, at the very least put the show to rest with a true ending. Wrap things up a bit!!
good show – bring it back, everyone is sick of realty shows
That show was the one show I watched consistently this year! I hope a network picks it up, because now I’ll forever be wondering what happened…
you need to wrap this up…i mean if your going to pull a series…at least tie it up or add one more episode in order to tie it up
