The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

I agree with “Irritated by Network TV” — another show cancelled before it had a chance to develop. And it was aired in a poor time slot to begin with. This show had potential.
i really enjoy this show i get sick of you canceling a show and not even giving it a chance i always record and watch later many good shows are put out too soon
It really is a shame that this show was cancelled. I agree with ‘Irritated’, they need to develop another way to track a shows success. With the advent of the DVR and internet viewing, no one watches a show when it airs any longer! This show was witty, interesting, and actually had good acting!! Shame on these execs that can’t see that.
Worse news ever. I was really enjoying this show. CBS, this is really a bad move. There are so few new shows and then you guys cancel the good ones.
I am so upset and in complete ahh that these CBS crap heads are CXLing such a GREAT show in Maimi Medical. It’s something that my wife and I both look forward to each and every week. Great concept, awesome characters pulling off a great show that is alot better than any other medical show that are on tv right now, past or present! Why would they not give Miami Medical another chance..I looked forward to the show each week..I don’t understand since they will keep stupid idiot shows on the air..PLEASE RECONSIDER…..
I have already sent one comment to CBS regarding the cancelling of “Miami Medical”. It is the best medical show on television!! Much better than “Three Rivers”, “Trauma” or “Mercy”. It replaces “ER” for us which we loved! It is an intelligent, well-thought-out show that has all the necessary ingredients of humor, drama, good chemistry between cast members and caring hospital personnel, etc. What a shame! What a shame! I can’t believe it will no longer be part of our viewing pleasure!!!!!!!!

It’s a shame just when I come across a new night time drama that is interesting mixed with lighthearted humor rather than these outrageous reality shows. The episodes thus far have had good topics to them. Kudos to the writers. I enjoy the Medical shows, and the crime dramas I find them fascinating. I like the new actors. YOU SHOULD BRING IT BACK FOR A SECOND SEASON!!! EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE!!!
Yet another series that is being cut before it even fully develops. Networks need to wake up and realize that its time for a new way to gauge the success of a series. it’s not Neilson, it’s not viewers on the night of the “air” date. I can’t remember the last time I watched a show on the night or time slot that it originally aired. aww I looked forward to this show every week!!. It was my faprite show. I can’t believe not many people watched it because I would give t 5 stars. BRING IT BACK PLEASE!!!
I, too, love Miami Medical. The story lines are great. The show characters (and actors) are so good….its a shame they are cancelling it. Perhaps a different time slot would be better than Friday night. Please bring this show back.
I am so disappointed with the canceling of this show!!! I had stopped watching CBS because of their poor lineup of mind numbing reality crap. I only just found the show this summer. I could hardly believe that there was actually something worthwhile to watch. Now, they say they are dropping it because of low numbers in the 18-49 demographic. I am not sure of the intellectual capacity of those in th3 group who are being polled. Perhaps, someone at that network should wise up before it’s too late for other good shows like Miami Medical and Numbers.
