The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I am sorry that the powers that be make a huge mistake and cancelled Miami Medical. I will really miss it, to bad there are many stupid shows that make it.
Loved this show. Characters were great. I will really miss it!!!!
I really liked Miami Medical and thought it had substance compared to some of the other shows that are on TV today. BRING IT BACK!!!!
I was very disheartened to read that Miami Medical has been cancelled. This is one of the better medical type shows I’ve seen. I am getting very tired of getting invested in watching a show only to have it cacelled after only a few episodes! I have decided that I will no longer watch ANY new shows on the netwoeks and watch only cable shows. Too many promising shows are cancelled before being given a chance to draw an audience. IT”S ALL ABOUT GREED, in my opinion.
I didn’t want to like this show but as it turned out…I loved it. The cases were interesting and the characters really likable. It should be given another shot perhaps at a different time….perhaps a different network. Oye vay…here comes another lame reality show!!
I just discovered the show. I got to see one episode and then it is gone. I was so excited and set up my DVR only to be disappointed that the show is cancelled. I think they did not give it a long enough chance. The spring is a busy time for alot of people and especially Fridays. I do believe it could make it with some more time. I hope they change their mind and give it another try. So many shows never get an opportunity because of the time they put it in. I would like to see… Read more »
My wife and I are very dissapointed to hear that the shaow has been cancelled.
Someone made a big mistake!
I totally agree with everyone on this….I loved the way the show grabbed you right from the get go with a serious accident but never what you expected. Like the pilot show with the pregnant lady in the car with her husband and the building beside them has a gas explosion and whips their car around and you think they are fine then out of the smoke comes a pickup and rams them from behind….so unexpected….or the twin sibling life guards…who wile helping some one out of the water and onto the beach get hit by the runaway boat that… Read more »
Why is it that a decient show can’t stay on CBS on a Friday. You can’t expect Hugh Ratings on Friday. At least this was a good show a medical show where the main story line is who can jump each others bones. This show could be recorded and watched again. CBS seems To go for talking to dead people or dreaming about death. Get real and keep shows like Miami Medical and Flashpoint around! Wake up CBS!!!!!!
stay on CBS
A Horrible decision. I hope CBS comes to its senses or another network picks it up. If they really want to appeal to the 18 -40 viewer it should have been on a different night than Friday and advertise it better. Please contact CBS and let them know. Maybe even start an online petition. As for myself I only watch Craig Ferguson and I hope he goes to cable.
i am so mad it got cancelled !
but shows have been cancelled before and then brought back,
so hopefully…
My wife and I enjoyed this show tremendously. It was one of the few on TV today that wasn’t just some stupid sit-com, or even worse, another reality show with someone being voted off or eliminated every week. Please CBS, bring back Miami Medical. Try a different night or a different time slot. I will do my part and tell everyone I know to check it out. Please don’t condemn me to another year of bachelors and bachelorettes, singing, dancing and people who think they have talent. Please CBS one more try.
I am very disappointed to hear that Miami Medical was canceled. It was a great medical show, realistic, and good characters. I would love to see it return to CBS. There are not many shows that are worth watching now a days. I just keep watching reruns of House and NCIS. Getting old. Have writers lost their creativity?
Hello, No I don’t think that Miami Medical or Three Rivers should have been cancelled because they both were very good shows with no violence and I think they both should be given a chance and put on cable or on another nite and/or timeslot. I know you just brought back Three Rivers and I hope you will consider bringing back Miami Medical on a different nite. It’s a shame anymore to get attached to a show just for it to be cancelled!.
Not only was it a good show with a good cast, etc., but more importantly it was highly accurate (no bull). I would record the show, then re-watch it with WikiPedia open next to me. I must have learned 30 medical terms and/or procedures (for example, hemicraniectomy – stuffing the skull in the belly to stay viable until ready to reattach after neurosurgery (episode 5)), 20 drugs complete with their chemical names and their emergency uses and other purposes (such as Lorazepam for acute seizures), and some medical “law”, such as our buddy with early onset Alzheimer’s and a tattoo… Read more »
