While it would be just Sue Sue Heck’s luck to get cancelled, ABC has renewed The Middle TV series for an eighth season. It must be Axl’s mojo at work. The network announced The Middle would be returning for the 2016-17 television season, as one of fifteen TV show renewals.
The cast of The Middle includes: Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue, and Atticus Shaffer as Brick.

“THE MIDDLE” (Season 8)
Two-time Emmy-winner Patricia Heaton stars in this warm and witty single-camera comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country in Orson, Indiana, Frankie Heck is a harried wife and mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to get her family through each day intact. Frankie works as a dental assistant, and her unflappable husband, Mike, is manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind that is raising their average – yes, most definitely average – family.

“The Middle” was created and is executive produced by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heiline. The series is from Warner Bros. Television.
ABC has also renewed: America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Black-ish, Dancing with the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, Shark Tank, and Quantico.

Thrilled that the Hecks & friends will be back in the Fall. The ones who gave bad comments need to chill & quit trying to analyze. If they don’t enjoy the show, move on to something else. A bit of silliness can be good for stress. Keep the Middle as long as possible.
I must completely echo Paul’s comments. I check local TV listings to see if I’ve seen episodes being shown on Hallmark channel. The Middle is totally real, not corn-ball or angst producing. Each member of the cast is GREAT. Very clever dialogue. I really LOL. Love the show.
I absolutely love this show!!! One of my top 3 favorite on air shows at the moment, very well written and excellent cast. So glad ABC didn’t Heck it up and it was renewed for season 8!! I even catch the reruns on Hallmark Channel several times a week

Love this show!! Doesn’t get the attention it deserves. It is well written and well acted! Each episode teaches about ordinary life!!! The show does this so well while being goofy, funny, quirky, and touching ,sometimes all at the same time, Brick graduating from 8th grade episode priceless!!!!!
Sweet. I’m glad that it was renewed. It’s nice to have a couple 1/2 hr shows that we can depend on. We find it refreshing. There are so many shows that don’t make it past the first season, and too many hr long dramas out there.

I can’t believe this show even made it past season4!! This show has definitely “jumped the shark!!” They advertise as a comedy, but I would be willing to bet that if you are keeping track of times that you ACTUALLY LAUGHED well then you’d still be sitting there!!!! Who in the hell thinks thatthat show is a comedy? Those three junior league actors that are playing the kids, I just don’t get!!! The older kid, Axel? All he does is pout, roll his eyes, & Sighs. I am offended by the analogy that the family is the typical American family.
Personally, I have never met a family like this! Except for the father, and maybe Axl being a normal teen, the rest are restarted! How can this be called a typical family. That’s embarrassing.
I’m sorry but I don’t understand…the rest of the characters are RESTARTED?? What does that mean? I think this show is funny and does portray many of your American families.
At the beginning of the 2015-16 TV season, I was thinking that “The Muppets” becoming a success in terms of ratings/viewership may doom “The Middle” to end its run after its current seventh season. I suspect that the renewal of “The Middle” for an eighth season is because “The Muppets” ended up being a ratings failure and is certain to be cancelled. I’m guessing that “The Middle” may probably end its original run after season 8, because I don’t see “The Middle” having a longer original run than “Modern Family”, and I want at least 10 seasons of “MF” before… Read more »

So disappointed in the recent episodes. Seems like they are desperately trying to be entertaining & funny, like they’re all “just tired” of the whole thing.

I love the show ..The Middle..I’m pretty sure I have seen every episode at least 3 times. It is true to life, without a bunch of filth and modernism like most shows today.

I absolutely LOVE THE MIDDLE! It’s ABC’s ONLY DECENT SHOW. Case in point…. that disgusting an awful to the Catholic Church show…. That is NOT a typical Irish family ABC…. CANCEL THE REAL O’NEALS.
