Poor ratings have claimed another victim. It’s been learned that NBC has cancelled their Midnight, Texas TV show. While there won’t be a third season of the supernatural drama on the peacock network, Universal Television is reportedly shopping the series to other outlets.
Based on the book series of the same name, from True Blood author Charlaine Harris, Midnight, Texas stars François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis, and Peter Mensah. Guest stars in the second season on NBC include Michael Harney, Mindy Sterling, Adam Langdon, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Jaime Murray, and Nick Lee. The supernatural drama unfolds in the remote Texas town of Midnight, a haven for those hiding out from the world. There, only outsiders belong, while normality is just plain weird. The townies come together to form a sort of chosen family. Together they fend off external pressures from nosy police officers, vicious biker gangs, and their own dark pasts.
While Midnight, Texas has some devoted fans, the cancellation hardly comes as a surprise when you look a the ratings. The first season averaged a meager 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.99 million viewers.
Despite the low ratings, NBC renewed the summer series and opted to air the show as part of the regular broadcast season. The network chose to program it on Friday nights, the same evening that NBC once aired their supernatural Grimm series.
The ratings for season two have been much lower and the eight installments have averaged a very low 0.40 demo rating with 2.08 million viewers. Unless Universal is able to find a new home for Midnight, the defacto series finale is set to air on Friday, December 28th.
What do you think? Do you like the Midnight, Texas TV show? Would you watch a third season of this supernatural series?

Wait! What? This show is soo good. It’s like True Blood’s kid sister. #Netflix snap this goodness up! Attract more viewers to this show.
I would definitely watch a 3rd season… Shows like this almost never do well on a regular network like NBC so it’s no surprise that they’re canceling it. This would do much better on cable network or a streaming platform. Netflix should snap this one up.
I Enjoy the show. I got my aunt hooked and now were disappointed regarding cancellation. Hopefully another network will pick them up soon.
Yes I would watch season 3 and other seasons. I love the show and hope that it continues being shown. Those that don’t watch it are missing out really. Please don’t cancel it, if you do another network will pick it up, it’s to good to let it go.
Would love for this series to continue!! Love Charlaine Harris!!
Yes, I would watch a 3 season of Midnight Texas, it’s a great show. And needs to be either renewed by NBC or let Netflix pick it up.
I love Midnight Texas and would definitely watch another season
Love the show!!! I really hope another network picks up where they leave off. I never miss an episode. Actors are great and story plot is very intriguing. No other shows on like this.
I love this series…hope it finds a new home
I love the show. When it was cancelled the first time I was so upset and when it came back so full with joy. Now hearing that it’s been canceled again, I feel like this time it’s for good. I wish it wasn’t. I will miss the characters and the idea of not knowing what happens to Fiji and the rest of the characters will lead me in limbo. Please bring it back or put it on another Network like Last Man Standing did.
I love the show
I love Midnight Texas! I’m a devoted fan. I hope another tv channel picks it up as I don’t have Netflix or Hulu. Come on CW. It will fit right in with Supernatural, Riverdale etc.
Yes I want Midnight Texas to stay on. Really love the show and it’s a shame that they are cancelling the show. Hopefully it will find another outlet to air this awesome show.
Please don’t cancel this show. I love the characters . Hoping Netflix will give them the chance they deserve. Great actors deserve to be in season 3. When do fans get a say? We want more!
I’m really sorry to hear this show has been cancelled. I like the show and the characters and the struggles they have that we all can relate to. Yes it is based in dark subjects but they as a team find the light everytime which is encouraging. If they didn’t overcome the dark side maybe I wouldn’t like it. There are many dark issues in our everyday lives not in the form of demons or vampires but regular human beings. Best of luck with future endeavors for this entire team of people that make the show possible.
Season 3 – YES1 and 4 & 5 & on. Do not cancel this show! It is great. Looking forward to upcoming seasons. Please do not put it on a”streaming” network.
