A couple weeks ago, FOX decided to cut the episode order for the first season of Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes. So, has the show been cancelled?
Set in Washington D.C. 2065, Minority Report follows Lara Vega (Meagan Good), a homicide detective who becomes connected with Dash (Stark Sands). He’s a psychic “precog” who’s haunted by images of future crimes and is on a mission to stop them from happening. The rest of the cast includes Nick Zano, Laura Regan, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Li Jun Li, Zhane Hall, and Tina Lifford.
The series debuted on September 21st to a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.1 million viewers. That was a very disappointing debut, especially for a high profile series that was given a lot of promotion from the network. The ratings dropped nearly 20% in week two and then fell about the same amount again in week three.
They evened off in week four but last Monday’s installment hit another new low — falling to an embarrassing 0.58 in the demo with just 1.82 million.
With such terrible ratings, there’s no chance that the network will be considering ordering a second season. At this point, with ratings this low, it’s very possible FOX execs will pull Minority Report off the schedule earlier than planned. At the moment, there’s only one more episode on the schedule.
While the network has not officially admitted that Minority Report has been cancelled (there’s no benefit for them to do so), it surely has been. Production is wrapping with episode 10 and no further episodes will be ordered.
What do you think? Do you like the Minority Report TV show? Are you sorry that it’s being cancelled? Do you think it should be saved?
Hopefully it will go to another network. I also liked Almost Human.
Glad it was cancelled. I gave it a fair try, watched the first 4-5 episodes, but I couldn’t go on. Almost Human was way better than this and it was cancelled, so at least it is fair for this absolutely terrible show to get cancelled too. Maybe something good will come in its place next year.
The writing for this show is bad. The plots are weak, and the actor who plays Dash isn’t very appealing. The actor who plays the detective has lots of appeal, if it’s sex appeal you’re looking for, but why would a detective dress like that?
And Wilmer Valderrama – well, I keep expecting him to crack a joke or something. He always has that little smirk on his face.
This could have been a good show, but they must have hired bad writers.
I can’t believe this show is being cancelled. So many good shows get canceled after the first season I almost don’t want to watch anything until the second season so I don’t get disappointed. This makes me think of when Almost Human was cancelled, for a different reason, but still a bad move. Some of my most favorite shows were unknown to me until a few seasons in. Plus, there’s so many good shows on at the same time is hard to watch everything. Especially when you have a big family. I hope fox changes their minds. It would be… Read more »
Keep the show on!!
Once again, finally a great sci-fi show, and Fox cancels it. Stupid ********. Browncoats forever!!
It seems all to often that shows start. Gets the community hooked & of no fault of ours its to easy to cancel something then to find some other ideas.
New day/time slot. More action. Etc…
Leave the show on!
This is a great show, which is probably why it’s getting cancelled. The people at Fox that make these decisions don’t get it when it comes to Sci-Fi. Especially pausible Sci-Fi. It’s beyond their understanding and intelligence. This type of programming needs time to develop a following. You can’t just axe it after a few episodes because it doesn’t produce numbers.I hope some other channel (with more intelligence) picks it up and makes millions in revenue with it.
Me too…. hopefully it gets picked on fox for a few more season, either that or another network preferably another station that’s already in my local line up as opposed to a few other shows moved channels I don’t have ,lol.
Maybe the cw
Leave the show on and find another more viable slot how many black woman besides kerry washington and being mary jane are leading shows. Why do u cancel shows once we are hooked unfair
IKR Why do they cancel such great shows I mean this is the 2nd show starring Megan Good to be cancelled , I hope it gets another season and a a few more after that.
They put it on at a bad time, competing with Monday night football. I love the show.
This show is a joke, just cancel it already and be done with it, the movie was good, but stop thinking yall can continue something thats been done, i watched the the pilot and realized how ridiculous it was. I just want to slap meagan good upside the head.
They are so quick to cancel shows nothing gets a chance. This show deserves a second season.
This is yet another in the long list of excellent shows that FOX cancels. Ratings can lie. The demographic that is used for the system may be a group that simply does not respond well to sci-fi. I think FOX needs to look at a different demographic. Look at demographics that traditionally respond well to sci-fi. This will paint a totally different picture. To remember blunders.
FOX is the network that cancelled Family Guy twice. Really speaks to their ability to determine which shows are popular.
This show is great. It’s so different than everything else on tv today people probably have a hard time grasping it. It’s certainly nothing ground breaking with regard to the writing and story; it’s simple enough that non sci-fi enthusiasts can follow and intriguing enough to make you want to watch the next one. There’s hardly any truly sci-fi shows out there please keep this one around.
I love Minority Report. I don’t miss a show.
