A couple weeks ago, FOX decided to cut the episode order for the first season of Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes. So, has the show been cancelled?
Set in Washington D.C. 2065, Minority Report follows Lara Vega (Meagan Good), a homicide detective who becomes connected with Dash (Stark Sands). He’s a psychic “precog” who’s haunted by images of future crimes and is on a mission to stop them from happening. The rest of the cast includes Nick Zano, Laura Regan, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Li Jun Li, Zhane Hall, and Tina Lifford.
The series debuted on September 21st to a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.1 million viewers. That was a very disappointing debut, especially for a high profile series that was given a lot of promotion from the network. The ratings dropped nearly 20% in week two and then fell about the same amount again in week three.
They evened off in week four but last Monday’s installment hit another new low — falling to an embarrassing 0.58 in the demo with just 1.82 million.
With such terrible ratings, there’s no chance that the network will be considering ordering a second season. At this point, with ratings this low, it’s very possible FOX execs will pull Minority Report off the schedule earlier than planned. At the moment, there’s only one more episode on the schedule.
While the network has not officially admitted that Minority Report has been cancelled (there’s no benefit for them to do so), it surely has been. Production is wrapping with episode 10 and no further episodes will be ordered.
What do you think? Do you like the Minority Report TV show? Are you sorry that it’s being cancelled? Do you think it should be saved?
It’s a great show. I want to see more. What can fans do to keep the show.
I love the show. It seems like all of the really good ones get cancelled. Grrrrr!
I enjoyed this show, very much.. I seems that every show I like has been cancelled and I am very disappointed that this one has been….okay it says that I have already said this comment.. which, I have not….

I missed the first couple of episodes because it started during hockey season, but I just binge watched the first seven episodes, and I really hope that it comes back. I think the character and plot are more fully eveloped than they were in the movie, which relyed heavily on special effects.
I loved, loved this show. I really enjoyed the movie and really enjoyed the show!!
I loved the movie and had high hope but was totally disappointed by this series. The two lead character are so unlikeable, especially Dash. Jeopardizing his pre-cog family despite strong objections from them. A unlovable, very self-centered character, only caring for himself attitude. Story is also unimaginative even in a sci-fi setting. Monotonous episode after episode of having vision and finding the bad guy. Hardly any character development. And what story arc, other than the sister vision warning him not to work with the police. If only they had better actors and writers. Compare it to the other movie to… Read more »
This show is great. The characters are developing in interesting ways – different from, and better than- the usual television schlock (which is probably why FOX will cancel it). Kevin Falls is a genius. Canceling Journeyman was a huge error. Canceling this show would be one as well. Hey Fox…. take a stand…. support something that’s good and has the potential to develop into something great …. and don’t just listen to the bean counters and the people trying to sell detergent. You’re better than that…. aren’t you?
This is one of My favorite shows. I’m very disappointed to hear that it is being cancelled. To me, this is a shining star among a dismal offering of tv shows being offered.
Fox cancels a good scifi TV show? What else is new? Color me not surprised – but I am surprised and saddened that showrunners haven’t learned by now to avoid Fox like the plague.
Don’t cancel it it’s one of our favorite shows
I won’t miss it. The premise is good but fans of the concept and the movie deserve better.
The acting is ham fisted. The stars are miscast — especially Valderama, who never commits to his character to the point where we can see him as anything but Fez from the 70s show.
Fans also deserve better writing and a better storyline.
I like the show. Don’t cancel it and don’t put them back into the milk bath!
My family likes Minority Report and it doesn’t help the ratings when people read that it is going to be cancelled. Seeing that causes people to stop watching because it is being cancelled and they don’t want to waste their time. The network should give it another season and see if it picks up without telling everyone is going to be cancelled, thus losing viewers.
I just binge watched Minority Report. I liked it that much. Sorry to read that it is being cancelled.
I have really enjoyed it so far. It needs a little more time to develop. The main male character reminds me of Eddie Redmayne a little and will grow on you. The time slot could be the problem.
